We've been allocated our place and we're happy with it. We've accepted the place via email, but have heard nothing since.

Anyone know what the next steps are? Presumably Southwark will write again, possibly asking for proof of where we live or telling us what we need to do next?

In my experience you hear nothing for AGES then the school gets in touch with you in early July with arrangements for September. Most schools do something like mornings only for a week or 1 day in, one day off, 2 days in... don't expect the first 2 weeks to be proper 9-3.30 days... and reception usually start back a day or two after the main school anyway.

You could call the schol office to check what information they have already about September starts. Yoyu can go in to buy sweatshirts etc.

I don't remember Southwark playing any further role once they have offered the place and you have accepted (worth making sure the school has your name down, just in case your acceptance goes astray!)

I think that the schools have to wait until after the initial round of offers have been accepted or rejected and a second round of offers made before they send out letters to parents. I know that Goose Green will be sending letters out this month inviting parents carers and children to a welcome meeting, they then have another day, which is a drop in, when your child can come to the classroom and activities are laid out, you come along and meet teachers and other parents; this is towards the end of the summer term. They then do a home visit (certainly for the children who have not been in the nursery). I anticipate that all schools do the same or similar so you should hear from your chosen school very soon.

I think that different schools do different settling in procedures; GG went straight for full days for the children who were full time at the nursery but did a few half days for those that were not.

From the sounds of it, Southwark are as hopeless at passing on information this year as they were last (although, in fairness are probably not in the best position to tell you any given school's particular procedures). If you are anxious that you have not heard anything, give your school's office a ring.

Good luck

    • I can't recommend Leon too highly.  He provides a first-rate service.  He's friendly but also professional.  He sorted out my extractor fan which  was running incessantly because another electrician had bodged it. At the same time he saved me buying a new shaver unit which had stopped working when the extractor wouldn't stop running. He was also uncomplaining about having to to go up and down 3 flights of stairs between the bathroom and the electrical power unit. He will definitely be my first port of call for any future electrical issues.  His contact number is: 07707 925039.

    • of course most people would avoid the "stupid" term - but I'm sticking with it fact is no other European would be so dumb, and even with the same information, the  same media, the same everything, 2 of the countries within the UK saw ho stupid an idea it was - but only the English (who played a large part in the Welsh result) pushed ahead - there is something defiantly arrogant and stupid and it isn't just down to bad info and bad leadership But that was all 2016 - it's people in 2025 who claim it to be a good idea executed badly who are especially stupid Now - does calling people stupid help anyone? It's not especially politically gainful and just gets peoples' backs up - but it remains a truth and only when the country as a whole genuinely holds it's hands up and admits the stupidity (rather than downplaying it as a poor decision - no shade meant Mal - you are just nicer and politer than me) will it begin. to turn the tide Also worth mentioning that yes I am as intractable and blunt with friends and family who voted Leave as well - this isn't me hiding behind some online anonymous account. This is what I'm like
    • Hello My name is Lizzie and I work locally as a dog walker and nanny. I won’t be needed over Summer so will have full availability for a dogsitting job. I have a DBS certificate and will provide several dogsitting references as well. Please note that I can only watch your pet at your home since they are sadly not allowed in my flat! Looking forward to hear from you
