Congratulations to all the staff and pupils at Goose Green Primary and Nursery School for coming out of Special Measures. The news is unofficial until OFSTED publish their report, but this is excellent news and I am sure the school would like to thank everyone in the local community who continues to support this wonderful local school.

The head, teachers and pupils have worked so hard they really deserve this. As a parent of a child thriving at this school I am delighted. prdarling; you hit the nail on the head, this isn't just good news for GG but for the whole of ED to have another great school for our children and we are looking onward and upward; there will be a new Sure Start building on site which will provide resources for pre school children and their families. Watch this space - we are on the up.

Come and celebrate and show your support at our carnival and fair on 10th July on Goose Green which is always an expression of pride but will be extra special this year.

Thank you to all the posters on this thread. ED - we are feeling the love!!

Well done to everyone involved in this. As said above this really is good news for those at the school and also for East Dulwich as a whole. Hopefully now next year parents living in the surrounding roads will happily put GG as their top prefernce on those applications.
I just got back late last night from a trip to Amsterdam. It was a working trip to meet up international partners of a project I'm involved with around youth engagement in leadership and also, I took part in a Deep Democracy conflict resolution training course!. Anyway, much we were discussed at our meeting and workshop was about needing to come together as communities - both internationally AND in specific locality. So it was wonderful to come back and find out this news about my son's school which feels like a wonderful case study in community building - and wonderful to see the forum full of congratulations from others in the area. Wonderful!

My son has been at Goose Green for almost three years now, loves his school, his teachers and his friends there, and is doing really well.

I'm totally delighted that we are out of OFSTED special measures, however, just want to say that a lot of kids were actually happy and doing well when the school went into special measures and during the two years we were in - so don't judge a school just by that label (and of course I don't mean to say there weren't things that needed improving and attention and I'm very happy that was picked up and actioned).

Hope you'll all come down to Goose Green on Saturday 10th July to celebrate with us!

Well done indeed. Having been out of special measures for well over a year (as can be seen from the start date of this thread) Goose Green school has seen it's 3rd year on year rise in sats results putting it well above most local schools last year and with even better results this.

    • Remember, you never know what someone else is going through behind closed doors....
    • Is anyone else having difficulty booking Silver Swim sessions (Tuesday and Thursday between 3pm-4pm?) Almost all the spaces are taken before the online booking system opens at 10pm several days before. Last night there appeared to be one space available for next Tuesday. I tried to book at one second past 10pm but was unsuccessful. This seems to have been a recent phenomenon. I made a telephone call this morning but just received a recorded message saying that the voicemail box was full. Am I right in assuming that in person bookings are now taking precedence over online ones?
    • I completely agree with you, Angelina. But it's worth noting that no one else has a problem with her, or finds her rude /  has mentioned her aggressively banging gates / ringing doorbells etc.
    • But I don't think that was what you meant, was it? But he can hardly be held responsible for what somebody else did! Just discovered I forgot to post the above  last night, and now it's overtaken by long posts.  I don't have sufficient knowledge  to counter some of what has been said above, some of which appears to be opinion rather than facts, so it would be pointless for me to say anything else.
