Hello, I want to get a sun shade to fit my Maclaren Techno XT to protect my toddler, and would be very grateful for any recommendations please. Don't want a parasol and am really looking for something that extends to cover legs and feet. Like the idea of the Shade a Babe, but does anyone know if it is suitable for toddlers, or is really just for tinies who can be popped in and out of the unzipped front section?

Thank you very much in advance for any replies.

Hi Fi,

I've used a shade a babe with both mine - on the eldest even up to the age of 3/4 (went on holiday when preggers with no. 2 so had buggy for evenings out), and with no. 2 who is now coming up to 2 and it is working fine.

Only really use the zip in the front in order to open it up a bit when they are awake and maybe needing a bit less protection, and a word of advice - I used mine at the beach and then packed it away for the winter, and next time I came to use it one of the zips had rusted up completely and broke when I tried to get it working, should have washed it off as I guess it must have got sea salt from the general atmosphere on it. Still works OK as it has velcro at the top, and zip on 1 side works, but it is annoying.

Soup Dragon on Lordship Lane do some other, and cheaper options, I think a shade that clips on to the buggy and extends rather like a flat hood which a few people on here said was good last year.

Best wishes, Molly

hi we used the one in the link below, its from jo jo maman bebe and it was fantastic, It s ?8 and it fastens on with little clips so you can put it on anything, really really useful. We used it on a high chair when on hol, on the carseat in the car and on the buggy.

its pop up so it folds down to about the size of a side plate and is very very lightweight and so small you can just have it slipped in your change bag incase its needed.

and you buy them in dulwich.

    • I’ve been looking at their website from time to time over the last few years and I was sure that at least one loaf - the signature sourdough - is supplied by the BreadBread bakery who are at a lot of markets at weekends and who used to have a small cafe bakery shop in Brixton Market. I used to go there specifically to get their bread.   They are also affiliated with Franco Manca.  That was the first FM, co-founded by Bridget Hugo, who died last year. BreadBread also supplied the bread for the now closed Crooked Well pub restaurant (but now open under a different name - The Kerfield Arms)  in Grove Lane SE5.  Not sure where the pastries come from but it doesn’t seem possible to choose which ones to have delivered.  I do think they chop and change the suppliers from time to time.  I like the look of the (expensive) crullers they sometimes have plus granola, the savoury pastries and expensive bagels.  They frequently have special offers for a first delivery.  40% is the highest discount I’ve seen so far. I too would be worried about a fox being an opportunist.
    • Yes, they sound excellent.
    • Maybe the signor in question spotted some hot jacuzzi action and just had to stop in?
