Hi all!

Just wondering if anyone can help us - we are planning to go to Kings tomorrow for a tour of the labour ward and cannot find the time in any of our notes... does anyone know? I have found a few references online on various forums but they range in time from 3.30 to 7pm!

Would be very grateful if anyone who has done the Thursday night tour recently could help! Pretty sure the Monday one is 4pm but confused re: Thursday night!

Many thanks,

Lucy

You may have better luck if you post this in the family section. I don't know the time of the Thursday tour but the Monday one is definitely at 4pm (for anyone else who is wondering). If you can wait til tomorrow to find out the maternity helpline opens at 10am 020 3299 1380

Just thought I'd update - we called the maternity line and got our answer - the Thursday evening ones are currently ay 6.30pm. Although by the time they called us through it was more like 6.50pm.

Not the most uplifting experience, although glad to have seen the ward in case we end up there (planning a homebirth ideally). Also, we should have followed the midwife's advice at the NHS parenting class who said Monday at 4pm is much less manic; for the Thursday night tour there were 40+ people squashed into one birthing room with no air (and having to stand!) - so not ideal for the heavily pregnat - and I think the Monday option would be a bit calmer!

THere is so much misinformation about these tours, it's unbelievable. I think it's half six - we went at 7 and missed it.

They offered to take us round on our own but the place was full of women in agony begging for pain relief. I went a bit mad and told them to sort their priorities out, for God's sake get into the 21st century and focus on these poor women, not my stupid tour.

My husband was mortified but I couldn't give a damn.

    • Most of the groceries shops in Lordship Lane have a security presence…curious thing is I and another woman recently saw a shop lifter lift and not pay for a couple of packet of steaks, veg and bottle of wine..  Literally walked Pat the tills, one member of staff and security guard despite someone else going in front by a few people and mentioning person in question! I have to say, speechless and admired their bravado - I would not have the guts and knowing my luck, if I accidentally didn’t put something tru the till despite receipt would prob get stopped! Yes, worked with families, homeless and other people who were struggling for food so I do understand why they do it.. sad when you think about it, that in this day and age, all sorts of c people need assistance and help from community in general, food banks, olio etc….
