Hi, Try as I might I am struggling with producing a CV and have gaps etc. As a matter of urgency, I was wondering if any kind Fouumite would be up for assistance. I was thinking about a couple of bottles of plonk in return or cash -don't have a lot to spend on this. Thanks in advance.

What sector is your experience? One way to deal with gaps is to produce a CV that focuses on competencies/skills rather than chronological ordering of your work history, although in some areas this can look like you're trying to hide things. Another approach is to put down "relevant experience" and "other experience", which also makes the gaps stand out less.

Afraid I wouldn't be in a position to help until Monday evening, but if that's not too late please PM me with your email address and I'll send you mine. And I wouldn't expect anything in return either - I know how painful it can be trying to pull your CV together!

When I had professional help with mine I was told that gaps are no problem and to cut out any temp work/jobs where you only stayed for a short time if it isn't relevant. CVs get looked at for seconds initially so it has to be bam, bam, bam. I just kept the quality. And I'm the only person that I know who got a job advertised on The Guardian.

Good luck.
