My white and ginger cat escaped yesterday onto Grove Lane, SE5. We rehomed him from Battersea last week and he doesn't know the area. He is very friendly (attached pictures).

If you have seen him please let me know. I will pay a reward of ?100 for his safe return.

He is medium-large build, domestic short haired. Name Mickey. No collar unfortunately but has a bit of fur shaved off one of his front legs.

The PDSA recommend that cats need to be kept in for a minimum of 2 weeks in a new environment, and that when let out in the garden - cat litter, toys etc be scattered in garden as they would carry the cat's scent to redirect them home.

Our rehomed cats are taken in their wire cat carriers into the garden several times and carriers placed in different locations so that they can absorb the scents of the garden. They are only out 10 or 15 mins but over a period of a week or 10 days they get used to the area and also our other cats. So far, our 3 - all rehomed have only strayed a few doors down.

    • Massive thank you to Stephen. Painted our whole house - and got lots of other bits sorted, too. Nothing was too much trouble, everything looks great and all came in on quote. Fantastic. Liverpool fan, but don’t hold that against him. Will 100% use again.
    • We worked with Eliot recently to get two sets of shelves built. He was excellent! Really high quality craftsmanship, communicative and lovely - I’d recommend Langley Carpentry in a heartbeat.
    • How about trying the upstairs of some local pubs like EDT? They prob won't stay open until wee small hours but worth a try... or night at Rivoli Ballroom Catford (too old?!) or somewhere up in town for drinks rather than hiring somewhere.
    • Sadly crime does seem to be going up in terms of opportunists and street crime / bike thefts etc. Lack of CCTV in this area means it's more of a target than some neighbouring areas according to police (when they sent victim support round after our car had its catalytic converter stolen twice in 6 months by organised gang complete with balaclavas, iron bars and a chainsaw.. driving a 4x4). Crime still relatively low by some parts of London standards but a worrying trend if burglars are trying their luck when people are actually home. Wonder what local police/ MP thoughts are in terms of whether they could organise more community policing patrols. I read a woman was punched in the face on/near Lordship Lane in an unprovoked attack a week or two ago. Terrifying.
