Any one stopping at a junction during rush hour over the last couple of years will observe the incredible increase in the number of cyclists as they whiz past those selfish sods who sit in their fancy cars, stationary, held up by hundreds of other unenlightened commuters who refuse to recognise that when it works London's transport system could eliminate the need for these vehicles which pollute the air, increase the amount of respiratory disease and kill pedestrians and cyclists by the dozen. This is the 21st century time to forget the idea that we have the right to congest cities and destroy the air quality. Cyclists keep themselves fit, save time and can enjoy wonderful views of London that others never see. Most experienced cyclists that I know avoid main roads and traffic. Even Boris is on the side of the Bicycle, more cycle lanes, less car domination of our roads and shopping areas.


The Horizon Deepwater ecological disaster is caused by the demand for the fuel to keep people on four wheels. Now repeat after me: Two wheels good, four wheels bad!

1. Motorbikes use petrol so it's not just 4 wheels!

2. it's bad enough avoiding cyclists when trying to cross the road when there's a green man as it is now, we don't need more colour blind cyclists on our roads trying to kill us!

3. Boris is a crazy MOFO - hardly your best advocate for promoting something!

1. motorcycles use considerably less fuel and subsequently produce considerably less pollution than most cars.

2. Pedestrians think nothing of walking over a pedestrian crossing even when the its displaying the "Red man". This happens to me when i cycle on a daily basis. Pedestrians are colourblind too.

1. Agreed, but they still do use fuel, as long as there is a demand, then the drilling will still happen!

2. True, but a bike travelling at 10 mph hitting a person is gonna hurt an innocent pedestrian, if someone walks out in front of a bike then that's there problem, Darwin and all that!

When it comes to road use everyone perceives the road to be theirs. It's not. It's public property. Peds, Cyclists, Bikers, Drivers alike.


Chill out people. You will live longer. :) That goes double for you Louisa!!! LOL...



p.s. the two wheeler always wins when it comes to commuting from Dulwich to the City.

    • Another bakery staple in days gone by - bread pudding. Place bakers(?) where Harry's is now always used to sell big chunks of this. I think Morrisons also used to sell it in a packet of 2 slices. Are bakeries now just dumping their unsold bread? I make bread pudding regularly - use reduced bread from supermarkets ( loaf cost me 22p) and last time made 3 batches one for us plus two for friends.
    • Went to thee Viet place in LL some time ago and got charged £9 for a pot of tea  Hubby paid bill and did not notice that they had overcharged. Frequently go past the old Moulin restaurant- rarely see people in it. No indication whether they are providing meals as no menu outside (unless they have pit it up in last few days) Got impression that it was a wine bar only. Love Dulwich is usually busy between 12 - 2 pm when they have their lunch time specials  not been there in evening or weekends. 
    • They're a supplement, usually made from whey, which are used after weight training. The theory is that weight training tears the muscle fibres (Feel The Burn, No Pain No Gain, etc), protein helps repair this and aid lean muscle growth. The faster you can get protein into your system, the better, so obviously liquids are absorbed faster than solids Beans, poached egg or peanut butter on toast, are pretty typical post training meals to achieve the same thing. They're much like a very thin milkshake or Slim fast, so nothing anabolic. I used them when I was training three or four times a week and the results were pretty good, if I do say so myself.   Cross-post with Ianr
