  1. Timster, I have to ask.... Why did you feel the need to tell the man and the station officer that he can take photo's when a) you don't know and b) you don't even know that it is in fact not a public place? I'm intrigued!! Thanks
  2. Hi QOD. I may be wrong, but i think the netbooks 18 months ago, when they first started getting popular had different hardware specs for Windows or Linux, based on Linux not requiring as much Disk Space. Do you know the Hardware specs for it? HD space, memory etc....

Ah well if the occasional 2am finish is fine by you then everybody else best shut up and do what you say!! Jesus, what's the view like from having your head up your own arse?!?!?

  7. Each to their own, I find it infinitely easier than a blackberry to type on. do you have fat fingers per chance?
  8. What's the email issue?? The fact it can sync with any type of email infrastructure or that it can amalgamate different accounts into one grouping by sender?
  9. It looks good if that's your kind of thing, it looks quite easy to get back from, I'd imagine about 15-20 mins in a cab?!
  10. No worries, I just re-read what i'd put and god.........what a geek! :-(

No but you could have taken a picture of your arse, appended the message "Kiss it!" and asked said babysitter to show it to social services! Not exactly productive, FUNNY but not productive!
  12. Personally I think you're looking at this all wrong...... For one, you're fully expecting this guy to be a nice, gentleman like fella who is going to be great company and pay for everything all night. An example of what you're not expecting was conveyed to me on one of my first dates with my now partner, who after a reasonably OK first date some years ago, proceeded to watch the guy use the calculator on his phone to work out the tip.....nothing too harsh there, but then divide by two and explain her half was XYZ. The only opinion is yours, go on the date, expect what you expect and offer is you wish to offer, personally I would appreciate the offer to pay half of dinner, however would decline it, getting the first round in afterwards would just make me think you were a cool girl who isn't a money grabbing princess who expects everything to be bought for her. There is enough pressure on a first date/second date/third date as it is without throwing expenditure into the mix! Just go and have fun! You never know, the guy could be a secret millionaire!
  13. Tog, Here you go - http://www.jarviser.co.uk/jarviser/bellwirenutshell.html 1. This is the one I followed. 2. You do this at your own risk. The problems ISP's have (and I do not work for one!) is that they're working with VERY old copper cabling, and you have to share with other people on your exchange, unless you move next door to the main exchange you're not going to get anything near the advertised. There are only 2 ways of getting better speeds. 1. Move closer to the exchange. 2. as DJKillaQueen says, get on to something like Virgins FTTC (Fibre to the cabinet) meaning its a fibre infrastructure right up to your local exchange cabinet, somewhere near your house and copper the rest of the way. Fibre is the future of broadband, it's just new and takes a lot of investment, I had it in Forest Hill, and went for the 20mb instead of 50mb and every speedtest i did on speedtest.net I got between 19.2 and 19.7mb.
  14. And a vuvuzela app to REALLY annoy people!
  15. I knew my use of a multitude of reasonably half-intelligent words would beat you into defeat!

But hey, it > would make an easy conversation starter. I'll think you find you started it here so nerr nerr nerr nerr! I was merely stating the applicable functions of multiple usable devices in one, against your statement of you own said multiple devices blah blah blah. Obviously I was not expecting anyone in their right to to take said devices to the pub on the of chance they want to send a picture of a fat ugly chick to their mate who they used to date, it was merely a highlight to the fact all was possible with a smartphone. End.

  18. I may be here some time, I do however love the B&W effect the iphone brings to the moment.
  19. Oh I dunno, lets say you see something funny, or someone you haven't seen in ages, or a girl a mate of yours used to date and has let herself proper go, you can take a quick snap, email it to them with something along the lines of "ooh you got outta there just in time mate" Shame you couldn't make it tonight! Assuming of course you do have more friends than all of those THAT YOUR TALKING TO IN THE PUB!!"
  20. I'm not going to respond to that other than to say you're reasoned and eloquent response has actually made me feel quite bad.
  21. " Please help!!!! there are plenty of places in London and Southwark to stay out until 2.30am, but I don't think Lordship Lane is the right place...." Where are these places? Are they other people's doorsteps far away from yours? It's a little rich saying that it's intolerable only to suggest it's fine somewhere else, last time I checked other people live somewhere else. I notice you don't mention Liquorice? Is this a safe distance from your doorstep that the 'other people' have to worry about it and not yourself? I agree that it is not pleasant to have to put up with, it is however what happens......
  22. Are you talking download of data speed or just speed of your connection? If you're downloading a file and getting it @ 500kb/sec then that's fast for BT in ED. If you mean you've gone to speedtest.net and thats all you're getting as a connection speed than that's crap! Cant comment on Brixton exchange as I am on the Dulwich exchange, i regularly and consistently get 4.5-5mb connection speed. Have you tried removing the Belwire from your main BT socket in your house, I did this about 3 months ago and it upped my from 3mb to the above connection speed.

Well it does all of that, as you say, in a tiny gadget, you'd look pretty silly carrying all of that down to the pub on a Saturday! But hey, it would make an easy conversation starter.
