  1. Ok, I shall check what it is that I originally bought. Thanks for all your help!
  2. I bought the netbook first and then signed the contract for internet... I bought an asus pc eee netbook with the operating system Linux approx 18 months ago. I wanted to use it for my docs as well and so thought that it should have windows = asking a colleague to install windows XP...the result of course is that the netbook is very very slow, hard disk is not overly large. Who can help me to speed up my netbook - it doesn't need to have windows XP, it needs to have windows - because my mobile broadband is for windows (I was told that the operating system mattered...). Some windows home edition will do, but since I am not a techie I just feel overwhelmed with all this and am thinking whether I should buy a new laptop... Please don't ask too many questions - just say YES i can help :))
  3. I went in two Saturdays ago and they didn't have strawberries. Asked a staff member and he tried to sell me peaches. Told him that strawberries are in season and that I find it odd they don't have any. He just shrugged. Unacceptable I find - I need my strawberry fix everyday as long as they are in season
  4. Well, sit at the head of the table. Best position ever, as it irritates people no end. Everybody expects big shot to be sitting there... Colleague of mine always goes in first and puts their docs down at their chosen spot, then leaves again to get a glass of water, usually enters as last person and is p***ed off when docs have been moved B) and seat has been taken. That's another version of the Powerplay.
  5. I work in a bank - but please don't tell anyone. Is that creative? I guess it depends on the department. ;-):-) Am bored out of my mind and am looking for a career change or at least a new job (as are all my colleagues). I am living abroad (in London). Volunteering never crossed my mind - am sceptical of established charities and haven't really found anything that would make me want to dedicate time and money on a regular basis. Strange combination of questions, Ms. What about you?
  6. I take everything with my address on, or receipts with my credit card number to my workplace, where we have a secure bin for destroying confidential papers. Pssst, don't tell the office manager :))
  7. Sean, Giggirl is right - there were no signs on eye level. She wrote "Wet paint" in pencil on two pieces of paper and put them on the floor, abt 2m distance from where the wet paint was. I could not read it from where I was, in fact, when she pointed it out I had to pick up the paper to read it. I don't think she disputes the charge per se, she is being very buerocratic about it. And why is it that people have all the gadgets surrounding them - computer and printer - and yet choose to write a note by hand? What about printing WET PAINT in bold, big letters? That would have been visible. Better still she should have done the painting on a weekend (Gym is not open on Sat/Sun)...
  8. Thank you for your responses. Yes, I think I will charge the full price of the jacket. I said ?60 before I found it on the internet...so that's her punishment (price goes up when you ask too many questions ;-)). She is not only loosing me as a customer, but also my friend - we have already found a new gym. Thanks again!
  9. I know that I paid - I didn't steal the jacket! (!) Can I seriously be expected to keep receipts that old? it's definitely more than a year ago. The statement doesn't state the item that I bought, only the shop name (if lucky) and the amount.
  10. Oh I should add that I have tried dry cleaning it and the paint didn't come off.
  11. My jacket was damaged at the gym as I was squeezing past someone not knowing that the wall was freshly painted (there were no signs!) Gym owner insists on a receipt - I bought that jacket approx. 1.5 years ago. Is it reasonable to expect me to have a receipt after such a long time? She says she is not going to pay unless she has a receipt. I now found the jacket on the internet and I send her the link - original price ?150 / reduced to ?90 / I am asking for ?60. She says I have to proof purchase... Does anybody have any idea on how to proceed?
  12. I live on Underhill Road and take bus no 40 from Lordship Lane every morning towards Aldgate - takes about 1 hr max and upstairs ususally has seats, as the bus starts at Dulwich Library. No probs at all.
  13. Excuse me, it would have to be me of course! Queen of Dulwich >:D<
  14. Jaybee, on a more serious note - did you make sure that you actually can sell all the items individually? Especially Bolognese Sauce I am thinking that you have to abide by Hygiene standards etc. And selling things loose also means that you have to provide the packaging. All in all the items will be more expensive - i.e. two spoonful of Bolognese Sauce bought from you would be more expensive than bying a jar, using a third and throwing the rest away...and therefore I am out, because I don't think that people are prepared to pay more to get a smaller package.
