A frivolous thread I'm afraid...

Just watching the chat show on Channel 4, with Mel Sykes and denise Van outen. Suddenly realised DVO was preggers not so long ago - turns out she had the baby 8 weeks ago. Not surprisingly she looks, in a celeb obligatory post baby way, amazing, but also am just struck that she is doing a fairly gruelling tv job this soon. I know she has a host of helpers etc etc but god, does make me look back at what I was doing when little one was 8 weeks and if I'm honest, feel slightly inadequate. Couldn't be a more different scenario! Think celebs are the new 'how the other half live'!

I def wouldn't want to be in that position - feeling like i had to get back to work just weeks after and in the full public glare at that. I guess it's just odd sometimes realising what a completely different experience it must be for them - no wonder they can gush about how great it all is when they're probably getting 9 hrs sleep a night thanks to the help!
Yes I saw them (Mel & Den) yesterday she was wearing a red dress and looked AMAZING! I also read an interview recently with her in OK 2 weeks after birth and she was saying that there was nothing about new motherhood that phased her blah blah and how the weight just 'fell off'....hmmmm, got to stop buying those mags for the sake of my sanity!

DVO is naturally a slim lady, I reckon, so if she was careful not to get too big during her pregnancy, it's quite believable that she have bounced back without doing anything silly. I don't think going back to work at 8 weeks, especially if it's just for a stint and not full time is any biggie. I would have jumped at any chance to go and do something non-babyish that I enjoyed for money at that stage! It felt unnatural to me to have months and months off with baby and then get thrust back into full-on work. Where she is lucky (and I feel a bit envious) is not to have a 'standard' job that she can flit in and out of, and still get plenty of baby time in between - so much better than the 'all or nothing option' available to most women.

I don't think she necessarily gets more help than any mere mortal. Lots of people get a ton of help from family and friends in those difficult first months, and may actually may be much better supported than celebs. Even if I had tons of cash I don't think I would hire a night nanny (but I would have someone clean my house for me and cook for me), but if my sister lived down the road, I would mercilessly exploit her to maximise any sleep opportunities. And probably try to make her cook and clean for me too.

Not sure exactly what my point is, but I like DVO so thought would play devil's advocate.... good for her!!!

    • Hi all, Wondering if anyone else in/around SE22 is also having the unfortunate luck of having Evri parcels delivered by a very rude individual? Whenever we have parcels delivered, our front gate is being slammed open and closed, ring doorbell is harshly banged (not pressed) followed by simultaneously banging on the door knocker and slamming the letter box multiple times. Someone is normally home by the time they come in the evening and never has to wait long for an answer. If we’re not home, we speak to them on the doorbell so we do find the actions of this individual unreasonable and rude.  We have tried a couple of times politely asking that they not do this but they are very dismissive and gives a passive-aggressive “have a nice day” reply.  Has anyone been able to contact Evri and successfully had any issues similar to this resolved? We have enough evidence through our doorbell footage but we are lost with what else we can do. We’ve tried asking politely but don’t want our gate or door damaged by someone who simply doesn’t care and lacks basic manners.    If anyone else is having this issue or has any advice on how we can report this, it would be much appreciated. After another dismissive reply to my concern this afternoon, I will be calling Evri tomorrow to raise a complaint. I have lost my patience with them
    • Corbyn was unelectable - he got trashed by Boris who was a buffoon. It was a good job too because I would have hated to see Corbyn and his rag-tag bunch of far-left university politics backbenchers try to lead the country through Covid.  It is completely understandable why Starmer and the Labour Party want to purge Momentum from within their ranks and Cllr McAsh has fallen victim of that.
