Fundraising for VSO ICS - volunteering in Nepal this Christmas!

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I'm Lizia and I've finished studying at Alleyn's. This Christmas, I will be working in Nepal for three months with the community in Lalitpur to increase livelihoods. I am volunteering with VSO ICS, but before I can go, I need to reach my fundraising target of ?800 which goes towards the training and sending of future volunteers to other countries in need.

VSO (Voluntary Services Overseas) is a charity with the goal of fighting poverty on a global scale. They have partnered with ICS (a program backed by the government) to enable people between the ages of 18 - 25 to go on a volunteer placement in countries around the world.

My personal fundraising movement is called 'C for Charity' (C standing for Crochet) and I have successfully set up a station in Surrey Quays Shopping Centre. I am looking for spaces outside local businesses/markets to set up a weekly crochet station where people can join in, learn to crochet or leave with a hand-made goodie. I will also be accepting donations.

I have created a JustGiving donation page and a Facebook page so you can check in on my progress and will provide links to these pages as well as to VSO ICS. Please get in contact if you have somewhere for me to set up a stall! If you don't, please support my endeavour to fight poverty and make a difference.

Thank you!

I love the fact that you, Dave CPR, are so unaware of how another can be affected by something that does not personally affect yourself. Blissful ignorance. Lack of Empathy. Cold hearted.
    • Not fair on the patients or the consultants, either.  My brother's an ED consultant and he is on his knees - they all have the flu but have to work through it, because it's so busy at this time of year. Adding the strike to this just makes everything feel even more impossible and he's pretty low right now.
