Sierapink Posted November 28, 2016 Share Posted November 28, 2016 NI is only required if you are registering at that address for the first time, so that you can be cross referenced with DWP database. You can save both the canvasser and yourself a lot of hassle by doing it online NI will still be required. Also it the means that our Council Tax goes on real services not on people being chased to register. I speak as someone who has canvassed, for this purpose. We have a day job and get paid for canvassing too, nice little earner at this time of year. Also rest assured that all canvassers are Council employees due to data protection and should have ID with contact numbers.
