The Mobile Recycling Centre will again be at Sainsbury's Dog Kennel Hill between 10am and 1pm on Wed 5 Oct.

The Mobile Recycling Centre is a FREE service, funded by the London Waste and Recycling Board (LWARB), to make it easier for residents to recycle materials which cannot be collected as part of normal household recycling collections and accepts the following:

>Books (new!)

>Small electrical appliances (please note: the electrical bank in the car park has now been removed owing to abuse)

>Wood and timber

>Metal

>CDs/DVDs

>Clothes and shoes

>Printer cartridges

>Batteries

>Lightbulbs of any kind

Materials collected are brought to the Southwark Integrated Waste Management Facility before being sent onto charities and reprocessors to be reused or recycled.

The Mobile Recycling Centre also dispenses biodegradable garden waste sacks and clear recycling sacks. It also sells 'Pro Grow' soil conditioner and subsidised compost bins and wormeries.

It DOES NOT accept general waste or standard household recycling (except cardboard)

Hi, We have used the Lambeth recycling depot in West Dulwich for many years since it is close and convenient. But I have been told that, from 1 Oct, it will be restricted to Lambeth residents meaning the closest Southwark recylicng centre is off Old Kent Road.

So, can you have this mobile recycling centre at Sainsburys operating at weekends, when ordinary working people can use it, rather than in the middle of the week?

Fair point. Is there somewhere else that the council could arrange for Veolia to use at weekends which is more accessible for Dulwich residents?

Veolia - I definitely agree that it would be helpful if the mobile recycling unit could be made available to us for more than the current mere 3 hours a month on a weekday morning. So, as suggested by previous posters - more locations & more choice of times, particularly as the number of permanent recycling sites are being reduced, as already mentioned. The next one to go is the one on Peckham Rye Common, due to fly-tipping abuse, The Friends of Peckham Rye Park have said it's going shortly.

    • Corbyn was unelectable - he got trashed by Boris who was a buffoon. It was a good job too because I would have hated to see Corbyn and his rag-tag bunch of far-left university politics backbenchers try to lead the country through Covid.  It is completely understandable why Starmer and the Labour Party want to purge Momentum from within their ranks and Cllr McAsh has fallen victim of that.

    • Hello.   Thanks Nigel and Hparker 😀   I've got new slots available for new students looking for a piano teacher or guitar teacher.   You could start in the new term beginning September, or I'm also available adhoc-styles through the summer holidays at times.   I teach all ages, in most styles, in lots of different ways according to how you learn/like to learn.   Give me a call or text on 07730 402336.   I have connections to lots of performance opportunities/networks too.   I run regular events /student concerts, and play in bands/perform.   Natalie.
    • So do I, but I think they are in trouble as well.  Anyway, that space wouldn't be big enough.
