Our current breakfast listening is a Winnie the Pooh CD, which to my surprise I'm finding slyly funny, much more so than I remembered and not the less so for the gentleness of the humour. As you probably all know, Pooh discovers a bees' nest and borrows a balloon from Christopher Robin in order to float up to the treetop and pinch the honey. The bit when he sings a cloud song in order to convince the bees that he is a small black cloud and not a bear just makes me giggle every time.

In the end he realises that he can't get down and asks Christopher Robin to shoot the balloon so he doesn't have to just let go.

"Did I miss?" enquires Christopher Robin

"You didn't exactly miss" says Pooh with dignity, "but you missed the balloon."

My baby watches a baby Einstein DVD about world animals, set to a background of classical music. About halfway through, a bloke starts singing about turtles, proper x- factor style and the whole thing is just so out of place and ott that I always end up sniggering like a school boy.

We have that Baby Einstein and I agree the singing is dreadful and the words just do not fit! Although now having watching it approximately a million times I just find myself singing along in an equally annoying voice without realising it. Which is not good!

I will have to dig out some Pooh CDs - sounds great.

A bear, however hard he tries,

Grows tubby without exercise,

My teddy bear was short & fat,

Which was not to be wondered at.....

.....from my favourite poem from 'When we were very young' it's fab. Can't remember the rest off hand but you've reminded me that I must get the book out and read it to my girls - thank you!

    • In answer to your question Pugwash, the variety of foods that they offer both in canned goods and fresh. i personally no longer am a Sainsbury customer after years - feel that the quality of both their fruit, veg and fresh products ie meat, chicken, fish is not of a quality that they use to be. Agree with Sue that Co- Op does not make for a pleasant shopping experience.  On the subject of Waitrose not coming to ED - one can only assume that market research has been done by the company which makes it a non starter which, when you think about it is strange as all the big contenders are here.. Perhaps the powers to be have never heard of ED!! Maybe a Lidl or Aldi will rear their heads but somehow can’t see it as space is way to small. Really is strange that Waitrose is a non arrival - never ceases to amaze me how many eateries are in Lordship Lane alone and the majority all survive.
