My husband is still in Birmingham, and not leaving anytime soon. I'm multiply gutted because a) miss night out b) have night in on own (would sound good but see later points) c) did ocado shop but crucially forgot to confirm so all the shopping i was expecting in the last hour - including my dinner - not here and d) thought to console self for a) and b) I would watch cheesy romcom on Sky box office, only to find there is some impossibly annoying fault with Sky cable or something and can't book/record/watch anything for some reason. Argh! Woe is me. Also just had embarassing chat with Sky wherein it was obvious I know nothing about Sky, phonelines, cables or anything useful other than the name of the film I wanted to watch. I was also somewhat the wrong side of a double gin and tonic.

Edited to say sorry for whingeing and hope a good night is had!

Likewise - came home from work to find little one with a very high fever. Under control now and sleeping soundly. Hope it lasts - maybe I can at least get a decent night of sleep even if I did miss all the fun.

Try again next time!

Thanks again for taking the initiative to organise, Ruth.

Lovely to meet all of you and see those of you who I already knew! I was lucky enough to come home to a sleeping baby, who had been given his last feed and changed. Lovely!

Sorry to hear about your evening, Belle :( Those of you with sickly babes, hope they're feeling a bit better today.

I went to bed at 12 and my eldest came in at 4am to say she'd been sick in bed (caught bug going around school). Eugh, not what you need to deal with on 4 hours sleep and half a bottle of red wine!

Poor girl, she was very brave about it though.

    • I haven't had a rude EVRI delivery but last week I had an unexpected delivery at 10.42 pm. He didn't ring the bell or knock on the door (or rattle the letter flap) but just took a photo and put the box down.  If it hadnt been for the door camera giving us a beep we would never have known there was a parcel ready to sit there all night.
    • Sorry if I’m being slow but there’s no point in having a gate then is there?  Would have thought it was basic manners to respect someone’s property

    • I have a rescue Spanish greyhound (galgo) from the charity mentioned above. You can contact Greyhounds in Need or one of the more local Kent greyhound rescue charities. They are fantastic family dogs. They do love walkies 2 or 3 times a day but they actually don't need to be walked too far and then they will happily loaf around on the sofa being very chill. They are brilliant with kids but not recommended if you own a cat as they have a strong prey drive. They also should be kept on the lead in local parks. They prefer to be around other sight-hounds (well my one does) and there are loads of local sighthound owners in Peckham, Crystal Palace etc and a very lively WhatsApp group that is brilliant if you need dog sitting as you can usually find someone to do that for free in return for you looking after the dog at a later date etc.
