  1. Joined for the same reason and it works out ok. Classes are reasonably good and not too difficult to get into I usually (although I have not started going again this year), book a class immediately after i leave it and get home to a computer so about a week in advance. When I joined mid this year I tried out alot of the classes and picked what I wanted. Having said that some classes are harder to get and must be booked earlier. Another thing to consider (which i struggled with) is time spent with my partner it eneded up that he gets in and i leave for a class, then he decided to go to the gym as we now had family membership and started another scheduling problem, other than that the teachers are fantatic, some more than others depending on what you fancy. I found the Creche expensive as (I think) its not free for members. Its ?11, I think. And last time I asked they told me you could nott book it online meaning there are chances you could book a class turn up and find the creche is not available, but do confirm as one thing I find is you tend to get contradicting messages depending on whom you talk to.
  2. My daughter is 7 and started last year and she loves it. I plan to have my son start when he turns 4. My daughter used to go to a different drama class which was cheaper and ok, but stagecoach seems more professional. She is in the beginners so does 11/2 hours a week for ?15 a week.
  3. Thanks for your comments. I did pay for a spring clean 3 weeks ago which took 3 hours (2 cleaners), not that I noted a huge difference after. And I have always made it clear that time is not an issue I would rather pay for 4 hours and get a clean house. And I only need the inside of the windows cleaned (or more accurately tiny fimgerprints wiped off) as I have a person who comes monthly to do the windows. I guess, I have to accept that i might have to do quite a bit of tidying beforehand. I guess what infuriates me is simple things like behind the telly (telly area is probably the only place in my house without clutter) is soo dusty. And how do you clean toilets without wiping the toilet cover.
  4. We usually rent out a cottage there in Feb.Suitable for a family of 4. A street away from the beach, we rent direct from the owners, its a holiday rental. Could give you their email as see if its a possibility.
  5. I am having trouble finding a cleaner that I am happy with and wondering if I have very high expectations. In the past 5 months I have gone through 6 cleaners. They just dont seem to be doing a good job. 2 were recommended by people I know but even they did not meet my expectations. My house is usuaally untidy as I have kids and work full time. I don't think my house is very big (3 bedrooms) and I think 3 hours is plenty of time for a cleaner to clean it well ( I have however always stated that I would pay for more hours I just want the house sorted). After cleaning the windows and floors always have streaks and floors sometimes smudges. The Piano is never dusted and neither is behind the telly all they seem to clean or dust is what one can see. The cushions are not turned and the chairs vacummed. I am not sure if, I am, the problem. I am very busy and would expect them to do a proper job without me micro managing their work. Basically I don't want to tell someone exactly what to do as I believe good cleaning standards are universal.
  6. Can you borrow one from someone? see if you like camping before you buy a tent. We have a 6 man and it is really heavy.
  7. Have they informed the GP Surgeries???? Seems they are not in any hurry to issue immunisation appointments appointments.
  8. Checked the tinies rates and it seems that they use the emergencychildcare.co.uk rates which i thought were quite high. Its 16-18pounds if you pay them directly plus VAT. If you want to pay the nanny durectly then its ?10ph for the nanny plus tax and 4ph to the agency plua VAT. And I think to qualify for their services you have to pay them ?9 per month. Grace it snot a particular illness, its various illnesses that usually gets him not accepted at nursery, from high temperature to vommitting and things.
  9. Hello, Its been a bad winter have had to miss alot of work due to child being ill and nursery will not accept him. I am looking into emergency childcare, is anyone using one of these and can they reommend them? How good are they and do you really get somone on the day? How much do they cost and is it worth it. Another consideration is if my son will feel comfortable with a strange when ill. I have no family around so no other option really.
  10. Never seen subtitles went often when baby was small. He was too interested in the big screens to cry. Happy times.
  11. Why not try creating a toddler friendly environment at the local RC church. Its after all supposed to be a community, is it not?
  12. Anyone know where I can get one this week. None is Asda or various shops I have looked in. Any ideas. Just a long shiny white dress would do. School providing the rest.

It would be so > nice for us to go out even for a bike ride for an > hour or so! You need time for yourself and its perfectly acceptable. If you are worried you could get the sitter to come for an hour while you are there closer to your baby's nap time. Then leave when your baby is having their nap. On the issue of how much, it depends. If your child is bigger and its earlier you can use a high school student I think from 15yrs and you can pay them 5/hr to 6/hr. If you will ba late then 8/hr is the usual going rate for an adult sitter

  15. Lovely costumes and well behaved children this year. My daughter had fun giving out treats. I dont let her trick or treat but we let her hand over the treats. I have nothing against trick or treating, just don't know what she would do with all the treats.
  16. Did a north downs walk last year with our 5 then 4 year old. Took the train to Caterham. Walk took about 4 hours. My daughter is a good walker so was great. Nice woodlands and a few great views.
  17. If you don't mind waiting , should probably book your appointments online. Easier to get, no hustle and can choose Dr. and days you want.
  18. Looked like a school (most likely secondary) child (just assuming) was knocked down by a car. Between 3.30pm and 4pm. Anyone knows any details?
  19. How do you know how many you have. My telly shows 700 odd something in the guide but just a few of those are active. How to know is going through each one and counting unless someone else has a brighter idea.
  20. Did you have a memory card on your computer at the time. A SD card maybe the kind that is in your camera?
  21. A lady had a dog in the bus this morning. The dog was on a long lead and kept sniffing at the person sitting infront who looked very uncomfortable. I think people go too far with pets. Dogs should ALWAYS be on a lead in public.
  22. hinking of running in the morning. Is the grove vale, DKH, champion hill route safe at 6am in the morning? Any incidents?
  23. Called DMC for an immunisation appointment last week and was told no appointments for the month and need to wait until they open their books for October. Then I call again this week and get a choice of appointments for the same week. I can never get an appointment even a foward appointment if I call but can always get an appointment online, thats when had my access, which I then lost and called them about it, they took my information leter and promised to mail me another one with the right access pass, that was 6 months ago.
  24. I think you just have to take a leap of faith. Its hard leaving your family with some one you do not know, and however much information you gather about them, they are not your friends ot family and you don't really know them. I always ask friends to recommend someone. You can also use neighbours children (old enough ofcourse and if you are just going out for early dinner). My best babysitters are 2 tennage girls, but my daughter is 4 so they have lot of fun together, I leave when her night routine is done, they play with her and put her to bed, they used to wear her out and they had a better time than I did putting her to bed.
