My friend lives near Southwark Park. Since the display has been changed to a ticketed display and they want to control entrance, some roads around the park are closed to traffic that evening. My friend has a letter saying that they will not be allowed to leave or enter their own close by car between four and nine pm on Sat 5th. There can be no visitors, no deliveries, no taxis ... Its her birthday that day, but she can't even have a little do or anyone popping in!

if she wants to go out on that day or come back you have to leave your name, and vehicle details with the council etc PRIOR to the event. It also gives suggestions of where you can park over half a mile away, if you not leave your details.

There were several arguments with stewards last year because of these problems. one lady was tried to be stopped collecting her distressed daughter from the train station, someone else had visitors that were turned away, and a wife/carer was stopped from using her husbands car on a mercy dash which wasn't on the list ....

ITS DISGUSTING THAT PEOPLE ARE VIRTUALLY UNDER HOUSE ARREST, FOR A FEW LAME FIREWORKS and a bit of waste of the councils time and money, not to mention upset to the all the animals .....

That would REALLY annoy me if I were given orders like that .

To me it seems an awful waste of money trying to control the movements of those affected residents . Could it be some kind of Health and safety effort ? Does closing the roads prevent them from being blocked by car parking of people attending the event ????But then that would be explained surely ?

It does sound draconian the way it is described but closing roads for events isn't exactly unusual - several of us round here had street parties in the summer - our road was closed to traffic (not people) from 12 midday until evening. There was plenty of publicity and people who knew they would need to use their cars in that time parked them somewhere else - actually everyone had to move their cars. I agree it may be difficult to find alternative parking near Southwark Park.

    • Yes, it would be great to see them nationalised. Along with the other water companies they seem to have a great business model: -submit a 5 year plan to the regulator asking for yearly price increases to cover the cost of improving the infrastructure and get them to approve it - carry on paying handsome dividends to shareholders and eye watering salaries to senior executives  - fail to achieve the infrastructure targets at the end of the five years, make some excuses and draw up the next plan Magic!
    • Avoid KFH. Agree with other comments that it is best to talk to lots of people.  Also, (not particularly related to the above agent), I wish I had read the reviews a lot more, rather than relying on numbers.  Depending on whether you are renting, letting, selling or buying the reviews often differ a lot depending on the relationship you have with the agent and it is worth checking whether the good/bad reviews match your situation.
