southwark council runs a service for awkward childcare arrangements, they will find someone for you, they are all checked etc and you obviously get to decide. We found a lovely person through this for some nursery pick ups that we needed. Might be worth a try if you want.
how much are you offering? i was stuck a few years ago and simply childecare suggested the only way was to pay over the odds. it worked. you could try offering cleaning on to it too for more hours - ?45 for 2-6pm sounds more attractive?

I used Simply Childcare to find an after school nanny last year, worth a try if you haven't already used them.

If I recall correctly, you pay a one off fee to register with them for 1 month, they you can place your

own ad and also look through the existing list of people offering childcare, the agency were really helpful and I found

someone almost immediately.

I agree with womanofdulwich, extending the hours and paying a little more worked for us too.

Hi Prdarling.

Have you tried the website findababsitter.com. I only recently came across it but you can search function is really good so you can ask for all childcarers within say 2 miles of your postcode, specify whether you want them to be drivers, have references, crb checks etc. The website also tells you whether the nannies are available mornings, afternoons or evenings. When I plugged my requirements in it came up with a number of good possibilities although I haven't persued them further.

Perhaps worth a try?

good luck

    • Ah sorry, it was comedy.
    • I have never used AI in my life. It's just notes from my forthcoming monograph on light industry in Dulwich and Camberwell 1879-1946 (dates chosen for obvious reasons).
    • Thank you, this really made me chuckle. It's like you met my brother as he would be the one taking more than his share. Plus the 'pikey' chutney is a winner. Unusual as in can't be identified??? Sadly I'm not the host otherwise I would definitely do that I regularly shop in the Cheese Block and am a fan. But as people have pointed out, there is no cheese shop that charges less based on bulk, so Aldi unusual cheeses may be what the familam receive! Yay, so I can get discounted mouse nibbled cheese still! Oooo, now I do love a Stinking Bishop. It actually offends my stepmum by it's stinkiness but luckily she is not one of the attendees at this particular gathering.  This is blooming genius. It's actually my partner who has the biggest issue with buying in plastic so I will have to hide the wrappers from him!
