  1. Currently no traffic in either direction on Dog Kennel Hill. Everyone is turning around at East Dulwich station. Best to avoid for the time being.
  2. Looks rather like the plants have been hard pruned in error?!
  3. Help out with a local Parkrun on Saturday mornings? Herne Hill Velodrome used to take volunteers, not sure if still the case. Local Scout/Cubs/Beavers often need extra help with their weekly sessions. My teenager volunteered with West Norwood Feast community market, for his Bronze/Silver/Gold hours, setting up the stalls, giving out leaflets, tidying the site, helping at the information stall etc.
  4. Sorry to report, black & white cat by the bus stop outside Altima Court this morning.
  5. I'm a local Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist. Although my practice is currently full, I would be be happy to have a supportive chat with you, and could also signpost to a colleague in SE15.
  6. Perhaps other branches of Cats Protection might be able to help - 0300 012 1212 I have a friend who lives in Camberwell, and is currently looking to re-home an older cat. Let me know if all other options don't work out.
  7. They appear to have further reduced in person checkouts, and created a new self-service trolley area - which I imagine will be horribly hectic and congested during busy periods. And currently greeted by a huge display of Halloween tat/landfill products at the entrance.
  8. The Green Roasting Tin - Rukmini Iyer Full of one pan veggie and vegan recipes.
  9. Royal Mail have zero interest in delivering letters on time, parcels have become the priority. I would say that my post arrives once a week if I'm lucky, daily delivery is a thing of the past. Ring the Customer Service number and complain, email too. Write to your local councillors, Goose Green Ward ones have been very good when I have contacted them, but depends on whereabouts you live in East Dulwich. Write to local MP, mine is Harriet Harman, but over the boundary Helen Hayes has been taking up the issue and she's brilliant at supporting her constituents over their concerns.
  10. Lambeth didn't use the existing infrastructure for free, they outsourced the show to the company behind all of the Brockwell Live events, giving them a vastly reduced budget to run the show, around £350K. Lambeth have previously spent a lot more, but the show has always run at a loss. Its roots were to showcase Lambeth, its communities, businesses, charities etc, but it has ballooned in popularity over the last few years. When I started attending around 25 years ago, there was a very different vibe! I think it's fantastic that they still put on the event for free, but I'm not sure how sustainable this is, unless changes are made, similar to this year.
  11. I walked through the Rye earlier, and the music didn't sound particularly loud, but once home and in my garden, which is further away, it seems a lot louder, Background noise for me, but I imagine it must horrible for those living closer. I fundamentally disagree with having large scale ticketed events/festivals in our green spaces. I accept the downsides of choosing to live in London, for example the traffic, pollution, crowds etc, but I don't feel that events like Gala should become the norm in our city. Precious parks should be looked after and enhanced for all, not trashed by adult only events which frankly raise derisory amounts of money considering the disruption to the local community. Smaller, family friendly days are the way to go. Our children and young people get a raw deal in this country (IMO) and having beautiful green spaces for play and recreation is priceless. I also feel very sorry for the young ones studying for GCSE's and A levels this weekend, if they happen to live along the park boundaries. I suggest we lobby our councillors and local MP to try and ensure that there isn't an increase in these kind of events in subsequent years, although possibly too late.
  12. Help needed on our allotment (Stuart Road SE15) Mostly strimming, weeding and one small area to turn over. May growth has taken over and I need a bit of help to restore some order! £15 per hour
  13. Following ... I tried Sarah a few months ago but she couldn't take on any new students. I believe that she had moved out of London to Aldershot.
  14. Brockwell Park Community Greenhouses now have a barn that can be hired for kid's parties.
  15. Also, Old College Lawn Tennis Club are great. coaching for juniors plus holiday clubs.
  16. I'm with them, but a light user of their services, so not sure how an elderly patient will fare. They rely heavily on an initial online enquiry and it's often difficult to get through on the phone. However, care is seems very good once you've made it through the initial consultation process.
  17. I believe that it opened on a temporary site in Peckham in September 2015, and the building work on the new site began the following year?
  18. A short bus ride away, but the Community Greenhouses in Brockwell Park/Herne Hill are doing lots of nature themed workshops Monday - Wednesday. Also drumming workshops too.

I agree, my son started to commute from Year 7, only a short direct train journey but it has stressed him out at times. He's fine on the normal days, but there are so many cancellations, timetabling changes and delays to contend with. Yes it's part of life, they do adapt etc, but it's no fun waiting on the platform for 30 mins on a freezing winter's night when Southern have cancelled his train home.
  20. I saw all three young ones yesterday, although one seems to have split off and was hanging out away from the family group. Whilst there, I was watching the Canada Geese goslings picking at the grassy area across the path, when a smallish off lead dog rushed towards them and made a grab. Luckily they all made it back through the railings unscathed, but it was a close call for one of them. Owner was very unconcerned and just strode past!
  21. Snappy Snaps - Camberwell do passport photos. Or a decent mobile phone shot. I did this at home for my son's passport photo, then uploaded it to the webpage and it was accepted without any problem.
  22. I haven't used him personally, but recommended by my professional peers. www.drpaulbain.co.uk
  23. So sad to hear this. I wondered where the other parent was today, when I walked past. Really hope that it recovers and will be brought back to the lake. The goslings often creep through the railings to feed at the grassy area, and so many times I've worried about off leash dogs coming along and making a grab for them. I think it's miraculous that the three of them have survived as long as they have.
  24. Try www.drumsandpercussion.co.uk Lessons at Dulwich Leisure Centre, my son has been doing them after school for a few years now, highly recommend.
