Loz
Having seen something on a TV programme earlier in the year, I quite fancy making my own sloe gin this year. Now that summer is coming to an end (or failed to arrive, even) my research says that the sloes will be ripe for picking after the first frost. So, does anyone know of any wild sloes growing in the ED surrounds? Or anywhere else, for that matter. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/12944-sloe-news-day/ Share on other sites
Nero
I collected sloes from Lincolnshire last October, froze them for a few weeks, then pricked them (although this is not always necessary if you freeze them) and added them to gin and sugar, waited, and the result was great. Loz
I was looking for slightly more precise directions than 'Lincolnshire'!! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/12944-sloe-news-day/#findComment-355503 Share on other sites
SteveT
I fear you have left it too late for this year, they must all be picked this late in the season. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/12944-sloe-news-day/#findComment-355565 Share on other sites

Applespider
There were sloes on One Tree Hill a few years ago - I haven't checked more recently. I second the idea of damson gin if you can't find sloes to pick Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/12944-sloe-news-day/#findComment-355856 Share on other sites
