landlords: recommendation for Managing Agent?
charliecharlie replied to peckham-tastic's topic in Request a Tradesperson
Ref Kushy Moves, I would not recommend them, I once went in (as I had been asked by I friend who was working abroad but returning to the UK) to find them a property to buy. I saw something in the window that looked like it had potential, so went in to discuss, I found the man in there to be unprofessional to the point of rudeness. -
summer.... and lots of it xxcc

Wanted - full service gardener to start ASAP
charliecharlie replied to hollysamantha's topic in Request a Tradesperson
I can recommend Tim Mackley who is a qualified gardener and is based in East Dulwich. Quite a few people in our street have used him over the years, very reliable, knowledgable (qualified horticulturalist) and a nice guy too. You can find his details by looking him up on line. -
oh darn it.... one vowel off choosing my name TastED bang goes the free dinner! looks good though...

what about this? http://www.victoriainnpeckham.com/hotel_offer/gallery.html

I still like my idea.. Terrine links with Terrior and sounds like min version of it as well as being a pate

TastED

METHUSELAH also sounds like a heavy metal band inc Parradox... which would make a great name for a band... but not a very restauranty feel in fact all of your suggestions sound a bit rock band-ish.. was that what you naming projects were for James?
-
I think The Lane sounds good... hard to name it if you don;t know the style of food... if it is a sister restaurant to Terroir what about Terrine
-

somebody once told me there are 10 women to every 1 man on dating sites in the UK... (anyone know the true stats?) so I guess if that's true and you're a man, then it looks like a pretty good way to find a new girlfriend

"Should I do the eyebrows" .. the barber whispered.
charliecharlie replied to Mick Mac's topic in The Lounge
it's one thing having your eyebrows trimmed guys, but please please no no no NOT the plucked eyebrow thing that's creeping in everywhere http://xfactor.itv.com/_uploads/imgsrv/article-size/_uploads/userassets/images/bios/Jahmene.jpg here's one example where the plucked look has gone way to far... bless 'im give me a manly monobrow over a poncey tidy look any day -
Wow... Anderson and Co, thank you, that was an amazing evening... A group of us went to the first 'steak frite salad' eve. It was THE BUSINESS... all three steaks were cooked to perfection (meat from Flock and Heard, so really good, tasty delicious meat - thank you Charlie for that). The steaks came with super tasty bernaise sauce and the best chips I've had for ages. One of our group had the fish (which she was totally enamoured with) which came with half a caramelised lime and caper sauce... The house wines go down very well and all in all I think they have got off the a completely flying start. Comes very highly recommended!!!! ps No I am not related and I do not have shares in the business!!! xxCC

It seems like a lot of work, cost and upheaval for an outcome that may only produce a different set of problems... there also seems to be no evidence that all these changes would improve anything at all. I have lived on the one way system for 22 years and ever since it has been its current form there doesn't seem to have been ANY major problems. There used to be regular accidents at the junction of Choumert Road and Choumert Grove, but that seems to have stopped happening (I think they put up bigger give-way signs some time ago) and other than that I have not seen or heard of accidents or even speed being a major problem. Though the traffic is a bit sticky through the shopping bit of Bellenden, it all seems to muddle its way through in the end. I have not noticed cars going unduly fast... though they do roar out of the car park on Choumert Grove, so maybe a hump on the exit side would be a good idea. It seems that the huge cost would benefit the CONTRACTORS and NOT the residents, visitors and retailers in the area. IF IT ANI'T BROKEN DONT FIX IT Southwark.... http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/file.php?20,file=85827

UP JO Brand is good, and it looks like the delightful clever and super funny Eddie Izzard is coming out tops on the thread... good rase ED and Otta, how did you get you vid of Lenny H into you thread, I though Admin had blocked images (and vids) in the thread... if we can share funny vid clips then we are on another planet of delight... will try adding one now (at home ill so got plenty of time on my hands!!!) -
Advice for professional couple moving to ED??
charliecharlie replied to EagleJon19's topic in The Lounge
Ref "What do you wish someone had told you before you had moved to ED?" move here sooner?! might be starting to get a wee bit toooo professional... I liked when it was as arty as hell and a bit of well keep secret... it's still brilliant but sadly the slightly grungy/rough round the edges days are long gone. Peckham is the new rock and roll.
