I blacked out today when I was at Cafe Homemade in Barry Road, everybody was so kind, the waitress (thank you for the biscuit and tlc), the customers, and especially the man called Stephen who helped me across to the garage in such a wonderfully gentlemanly fashion (hope your coffee didn't get too cold)... also a big thank you to the paramedic who (from what I can remember) took hold of the situation in a really professional way), I am indebted to you. I am OK. My friend Sas was totally wonderful and got me the the doctors... I am at home resting now and sure I will soon bounce back... I always suspected the world was full of wonderful people and now I know it is... thank you for your spontaneous acts of kindness!!! xxCC

Yes, go to the Peckhamplex, it's getting better and better... It was bought up by John Reiss from Soho Premier PR, and he has brought in a new(ish) manager, Marriane Gray (a film journalist) to add more indie and art house films, so you get the mainstream movies and some more low budget arty stuff too... use or lose it as they say... we are brilliantly lucky to have it!!! Get yourselves on the Newsletter email list and you'll get all the updates... Peckham Managers I saw a great documentary about The Birth of british Ska last year and they linked up with the Bussey building's CLF Arts Cafe and did a Ska dj set as a kind of after party... it's all happening in Peckham... come on over ED'ers, you're welcome to join the party xxCC

Spot on Lndonmix... who gives a damn whether you live in SE22 or SE15, it's totally daft to try and compare one against the other, both areas are brilliant and offer a different vibe, but you can, of course, enjoy both... it's not like you need a passport or anything to go from one to the other!!!! shhh... don't tell as soul, hipper than hip for those in the know... Franks, Bussey, Hannah Barry, Royal Court, CLF Arts Cafe, arthouse and indie films at PeckhamPlex, Bar Story, Montpelier's Back Room Cinema, Begging Bowl, Bold Tendencies, Sunday Painter, The Old Waiting Room and that's about 5% of it... AND then you have all the amazing multi-cultural influences, best African Fabrics, Chinese Supermarket, Khan's where you can everything from DIY tools to Baklava, the persian shop Persepolis, the list goes on and on... only worry is, now we have the Ginger line, that it will get over hyped and the whole well-kept wonderful secret will be spoilt as 'fools rush in'!!! http://peckhamresidents.wordpress.com/2011/08/04/independent-films-at-peckhams-rye-lane-cinema/ http://boldtendencies.com http://www.guardian.co.uk/artanddesign/2011/jun/24/discovering-peckham-art-scene http://www.thesundaypainter.co.uk/studios/ http://www.yemmytextiles.co.uk http://foratasteofpersia.co.uk -

I have always found the staff in there really nice and friendly, I pop in there for a treat every now and then... 'tight lipped' is so far from my experience of the place that I am wondering if we are even talking about the same place!!!! and their cakes are genius http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gl7gDUD7GEU/T60CHvGFhJI/AAAAAAAAHaY/6v1iQxEOwEM/s1600/Cake+Genius+Cookbook+cover.jpg

I remember the Wong Kei from way back... the service is perfectly OK now, but back in the day it was HORRENDOUS!!! In the heat of summer (and it must have been 35 degrees in there) I asked for a glass of water... and I waited and I waited and I... and so on... I was feeling a bit faint and overheated, and I spotted about 10 glasses of tap water ready to be served on the counter which was all of 3 metres away, so I got up and went to get one... the waiter yelled and I mean YELLED right across the room full of diners "you want water, you fucky sit down"... funny in hindsight but not at the time, I did not go back for a ages (and I am talking 20 years!!) Oh boy, they were angry in dem days! http://www.legaljuice.com/angry%20lawyer%20mad%20lawyer%20furious%20lawyer%20man%20person.gif

When I first got my kitten I kept her in till she was about 8mths. My vet asked me if there were any feral cats or foxes (we have both in our area) and when I said yes, she said, "keep her in till she's is big enough to fend for herself". She is basically a moggy (tabby with a bit of bengal in her) and she is big and quite a strong build (my cat, not the vat that is!). At the beginning I watched her like a hawk (I was super cautious as I had never had a cat before) and did not let her out of my sight and kept the time outside short, then gradually I extended it until I was sure she knew where home was, then I would wait for a sunny day and then, while I was doing some gardening, keep the door open so she could nip back in if she felt worried. She soon got used to it and now is totally confident about going in and out... she knows exactly where home is and is often waiting to great me when I get home... I am not near a road though. So generally my advice would be to it take it slowly. I also splashed out on a Sureflao cat flap... expensive but worth every penny, as it only lets in the cat(s) with the correct microchip in i.e. MY LOVLEY CAT brilliant, no toms and ferals eating her food and spraying, and she knows once he's is in, she is safe so she can dash for cover if a ruckus starts... RESULT! http://www.sureflap.co.uk/
