Met with Lindsey (apologies if I've misspelt her name) yesterday in the picnic area & she kindly invited me along. I swung by today around 3.30pm but I didn't recognise anyone there from the day before. not sure if anyone made it in the end?? Hope perhaps to catch you next week instead.

Hopefully see you ladies (and anyone else who's around - Molly? Polly? Pickle?) on Friday for a little farewell for S and I :-((

I'm thinking either after Babble and Squeak for an early lunch or after lunch and nap time at say 2ish?

Must get on with making cupcakes tomorrow!

Hiya,

Yes, would love to meet up. 12 midday would be good for me, may also manage 2, but can't promise as C generally sleeps 1.30pm til 3pm and then it's the school run. But whatever you do I will do my best to at least show my face briefly......keep me posted...

Also re the temperature and ibruprofen thing we were chatting about, I have found out why, and I think I can relay the info fairly accurately as follows; there are two schools of thought - the big concern with babies and young children and temperatures is the risk of febrile convulsions, and it is now thought that it isn't the temperature itself, but a rapid rise OR drop of temperature can is most likely to cause them. Therefore some consider it better not to give meds to bring temp down quickly unless baby is showing signs of being in extreme discomfort BUT another school of thought is that it is better to make them comfortable, get them drinking, moving etc. and more likely to do that if given ibruprofen. This tends to be a discrepancy between the UK/other parts of Europe and Australia, which is why your Spanish Doctor reacted as he did by the sounds of it. Interesting stuff eh!

bee74 - sorry, we usually meet up on a Tuesday afternoon from 2.30pm in the picnic area of Peckham Park .. but I have ransacked the thread to get the girls out this Friday as well.

Molly - aha I see, makes sense! Good one you for even remembering to follow this up - haha. Ok so going forward I may try Calpol initially and see what happens .. mind you if its a little fever and its related to teething then I may not feel so bad giving him Nurofen - less quantity (though probably more concentrated ;-), it deals with the inflamed area and the fever all in one go. Thanks for this though - I'm glad to have it clear now after being rather confused ;-)

Hopefully see you on Friday at some stage. x

Ok scrap Babble and Squeak (thanks Fran!) as it isn't on this week.

Meet in the picnic area of Peckham Rye park from 10.30am / 11am?

Bee74 - opposite the parking at the cafe is a gate - if you walk through there, over the little bridge by the toilets and keep going straight up through various little gates you'll get to the picnic area - I'll have down some bright red/black/blue sarong type blankets so you shouldn't miss us.

    • Miss Robson is the last of the old school independent vets. All the chains are have seriously hiked their prices over the last few years which now makes pet ownership only possible for the wealthy few. Even with pet insurance -( which often excludes items or has ‘deductibles’ ) it is just so much money. A visit with some medication is often £150 - £200. The vets themselves are excellent.
    • Awful. A Google search came up with this, but will he check his office email over Christmas? Maybe worth also contacting local councillor? 'To contact Southern Housing's CEO, Paul Hackett, you can try his direct email, [email protected], or use the general contact email [email protected], as well as calling their main number, 0300 303 1066, for general inquiries or to be directed to the executive level.' Also, from the website: https://www.southernhousing.org.uk/latest-news/2025/contacting-us-over-the-festive-period   'Contacting us about an emergency? If you have an emergency outside of the above times over the festive period, such as severe flooding, an uncontainable leak, gas leak, complete electrical failure or lift breakdown, please call us on 0300 303 1066' I hope it is sorted out soon.
    • Dawson Heights again  2 lifts out of order at ladlands block Christmas Eve so of course the 🛗 will not be repaired tomorrow Christmas Day or Boxing Day or when how do elderly or mothers with children and prams and food and presents get to the floors and with the 10 minutes you get to drop off  to park and not get a Pcn fine and delivery food to relatives who can’t leave their house unbelievable Southern housing does any know email address of Coe of southern housing
    • Sorry but I think it's best if people just check things for themselves when they buy things. In three shops/restaurants (from some years back) I just avoid the places concerned, as in all three  cases I was pretty sure it wasn't a genuine mistake, and in one place  it happened more than once and usually late at night.
