East Dulwich Parents

Am in slight panic as both nurseries that i have my son down for starting Jan 11 are unsure about whether they will have a place for him. One is definately sure they won't have place and the other needs me to call back in November.

My son is currently with an excellent childminder who only takes kids up to 3 and we had planned his leaving in Jan 11. However, my son is now the oldest child with the childminder by a year (he'll be 3 in Oct) and has no playmates of his own age.

With nursery places looking doubtful, i think the best alternative is to find him a childminder/nanny share who already has 3-4 year old kids.

Does anyone have kids of this age with a childminder who may have a place available and would recommend or would anyone consider a nanny share if they have a 3yr old?

Help. Am going slightly grey with the stress.

    • Ha ha that's hilarious - how wonderfully embarrassing for Reform!
    • Closing down completely. The lovely people there are all retiring. Thanks, but Deptford is a long way to go to make two journeys to  take and collect a car! Do they not do even relatively minor repairs if it fails its MOT first time? Then that would require four journeys 😭 Wondering if there's already a thread on here for garage recommendations? People on my road WhatsApp group have recommended some local ones. I'm particularly gutted because apart from the lovely people who worked there,  Dell was a five minute walk for me!
    • I did think that might be the reason, but five years out of seven it's going to be a weekday (I think. Not sure how leap years might affect things!)
    • Probably because the 5th was a weekday. We still have the weekend to come. Also, some fireworks going off nearly every night for the last few months. Last night something was being let off that made a very deep booming noise every 10 seconds or so. That said, if the general public are beginning to see the harm done by firework noise and choosing to use low noise options and refusing to support organised events that still use the full throttle type, I for one would be very happy. Does anyone know if the Herne Hill Velodrome Halloween fireworks event used low noise options?
