Spanish shop North Cross Road

Any one know what is going on with the shops here?

Like what has happened to the Spanish shop?

Cheers looked at that already.

But does anyone know what is happening to it now? It's been closed for a time and nothing seems to be happening with it. Its almost like a ghost shop now with everything still in it.

I rang the agents a while back to enquire about renting it .. and was told it wasn't available and they couldn't tell me more than that .. so who knows what that means..

So nice of them to fence off the front, making it extra difficult to walk along the market on Saturdays.

They have just replaced the old fence which has been there for .. whatever ? with a new one .. same size.

no that new fence is a different shop so there are two obstructions now. During the week no problem but a nuisance when the market is on.

The market is the problem... Most markets operate onto the road.

They got the road closed off to traffic but continue trading onto the pavement.

I guess that's because the road is only clsoed for half of the market. I'd like to see the whole of north cross road closed with stalls all the way up to the actress on both sides.

That would cause serious traffic problems for Fellbrig and Ulverscroft roads,

Whilst Fellbrigg has cut throughs to Lordship Lane, Ulverscroft has no cut throughs.

Both roads are jammed on market days meaning imposible for cars to turn round.

Do you expect residents to reverse 350 mtres to get out.

Ulverscroft cannot be blocked at one end - that would be madness and unsafe.

Despite the popularity of the market, it seems to me rare for all the current stall-holders with allocated spaces to actually turn up on a Saturday. Though more will turn up in the run up to Christmas, often the number of stalls is very much depleted so I think attracting stall-holders for a larger market will be difficult.

The new fence is outside the shop next to Sweet Sanctuary.

It has builders in at the moment.

I agree.

Sometimes there are very few stalls there at all.
