In my early years learning a musical instrument I used to get banished outside to practise by my parents. Our local icecream truck played "Greensleeves" which was one of the first pieces I learnt to play. I thought it was hilarious to play it and watch the boys from next door rush outside with their money to get icecream only to look confused when they couldn't see the truck anywhere.

Cruel, but at least they recognised what I was playing!

I tell my 3.5 year old that the music playing means the icecream has run out :)

So funny Pickle, good one!

And yes, why is it that 'Greensleeves' is the first thing you ever learn to play, (that or Fur Elise!?) :))

When I was young and so much younger than today, my bastard uncle informed me that the vapour trails left by planes were caused by the pilot leaning out of the window with a paint brush and daubing the sky.

This was fine until some time later I was with a group of boys from the flats and decided to share this piece of physics with them.

I can still hear the howls of derision and the cries of "Who told you that you prat"?

I made up my mind never to accept another five bob from nunky when he visited, but when he next proffered the dosh I forgave him, which I think was magnanimous in one so young.

    • If you mean the one outside the church going towards Peckham, it still had the closed sign on it this morning, but as there are no road works there, I'm sure some of the drivers will stop there on request.  The stop outside the chippy coming from Peckham is closed as there are road works in front of it.  The 4 way traffic lights are in operation.., causing a lot of congestion.
    • We found a recommendation for Geek Electrics on a here after we wanted to have a electrical inspection of a property we are buying. From the very beginning through to the end Bob was responsive, helpful and demonstrated his knowledge. He has been an absolute pleasure to deal with.
