  1. And right on cue, there is numbers to defend Sue. Given the infantile behaviour going on in the CGF thread I think it's a bit rich coming from numbers, and Sue is the last person who should be complaining about dragging things up.
  2. For the last time I am not BB or anyone else. It?s precisely because of the behaviour of above, that I and others don?t post anymore on this forum. I have made some very good friends through the forum, so it?s not all bad, but it doesn?t take a genius to realise that numbers, LM, Sue and RD all know each other in person. I?m not getting drawn in. That?s my last word on it.
  3. What a first class bully you are Red Devil.
  4. Once again, Red Devil subjects another innocent poster to the DJKQ trials, while Laddy Muck and Numbers look on!
  5. Hi Brigid, There's something else that you might like to check out called the London Ladies Friendly League. It consists of around 8 local women's teams of all ages abilities who play 11-a-side league games through the season every two weeks or so. Every team also has a mid week training session, at a local astroturf and a couple of the teams also have five-a-side teams. It's a league for all ages and abilities, VERY informal and VERY friendly, and the teams are always looking for players, for anyone who wants to play. The league itself is run by Pete Deller and there is a facebook group at; https://www.facebook.com/groups/217403848349897/?fref=ts You can find out about the teams there, or just put a shout out in a post and someone will get back to you.

  7. I don't post on the forum anymore for lots of reasons, but I do check in and lurk. For the record LD, I have never been banned from this forum and I'd appreciate if you left me out of your squabbles with others.
  8. Eloquently put LD and I totally agree. They are even pitting the poor against the poor too. It's disgraceful.
  9. Both the PDSA and Celia Hammond in New Cross can use them.
  10. The bottom line is that we have charity and volunteers propping up the welfare state which is not acceptable. People shouldn't be having to wait weeks with no money for benefit claims to be sorted out or processed. And yes, ATOS are a disgrace.
  11. As much as it pains me to say it ;) I totally agree with Sue and the others here that rightly question what is happening to our country and it's welfare state. Yes there have been times of greater economic hardship for greater numbers of people, but that doesn't take away from those that are currently experiencing hardship and are being failed by the current system in increasing numbers. There is a Tory belief that the poor should pay their part in repaying the national debt....only they fail to understand the poor have nothing to pay it with! There are of course other factors at play, like rising food and fuel costs but nothing the government is doing is helping the poor.
  12. 'I do not need to pigeon hole people to form an opinion' Oh really UncleBen? Most of your attacks on various people on this forum do exactly just that!!!! You are the worst person for it! Not only that, you clearly have been around way longer than the registered start date of you current alias. That in itself says something. SJ is spot on in his reasoning imo.
  13. Annette Curtain Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > SCSB79 Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > I saw DJKQ today. > > > DJKQ > > I wouldn't stand for THAT > > It's time to unleash your annual weapon of mass > offence (you know, the 'lady painting' one) > > *covers eyes* HA HA...don't encourage me...though it has been a while hasn't it :D Lady D is spot on UncleBen. To dismiss her disection of your comment as a reflection of her own prejudices is nonsense. YOU made the comment being challenged...not her.
  14. But with millions unemployed and many of them graduates, it should be possible to fill those gaps. One of the worst things to happen in the UK is the demise of apprenticeships, and properly paid vocational training. Just to pick up on UBs point above about language. Absolutely it should not be a barrier to employment, but there has always been a tradition within small family run businesses to employ from within a culture. And just as the local Chinese restaurant tends to employ Chinese employees, the family run small building company tends to employ from it's own immediate family and circle of friends/ colleagues too. I'm not sure how we can change that.
  15. Really...we're flogging this to death now. UncleBen said business would be affected if the illegal migrants were removed as their underpants were used to flavour the korma sauce. It's perfectly clear what was meant and what is offending by it.
  16. Er SCS I did say exactly why it is offensive in two posts on thread neither of which you have bothered to read obviously. Otta, I have worked with Stephen Fry. He would absolutely not find the suggestion that indian restaurants need illegal immigrants for their underpants as the secret ingrediant to a korma recipe funny.
  17. A clean with sugar soap and use of an undercoat before applying the coat of gloss on top is all you need. Sanding usually deals with imperfections, like brishes marks, from the old coat and makes for a better finish, and although recommended isn't absolutely necessary if you use an undercoat.
  18. But someone having a one off party for example is different than daily disturbance by repeated noise. One I think can be tolerated, the other can't. There are definitely people who are unreasonable when it comes to what is deemed acceptable noise (and they are often lone voices) and then there are people who are unreasonable when it comes to disturbing their neighbours. In a mega city there will always be noise....it's just a question of finding and enforcing reasonable balance.
  19. Sadly Tom is right. There is a growing shortage of school places and children without places can't wait the years it takes to build new schools. All long as the teaching staff are in adaquate numbers, and the numbers using the building do not exceed the defined capacity of the buildings, I can't see what the issue is.
  20. Do a search on UncleNen and see what an unhealthy obsession he has with some of those names.
  21. Yes satinwood can go on doors. It's not as hard wearing as gloss but it's hard wearing enough and will stay white.
  22. Lady D finds the comment offensive for the same reasons I do, and the others that find it so do. And I'm sure Stephen Fry even would get why it is offensive too.
  23. I also think that successive governments see the equity in spiralling house prices as the short term solution to the looming pensions (top heavy population) crisis, that's if there's anyone left able to afford to buy a home that is. Longer term, there will be increasing demand on state pensions as decreasing numbers of workers have employer paid or private pensions. It's not going to end well sadly.
  24. UncleBen calling anyone a troll is actually quite funny.
