I do know what I am talking about here....have been involved with local council issues for years. Yes there was a meeting regarding issues that both councils are responsible for along the borders of the borough and it was discussed that a joint management of those border services might be cost effective....(would you like to see minutes?)..like for example rubbish collection, parking etc. It had NOTHING to do with housing management as the Lib Dems claimed. So that WAS a lie. But I take more offence with the tone of your post. The attitudes of some posters on this forum is questionable....too quick to patronise those who do actually know what they are talking about. It is possible to post a view without then belittling the poster who makes the point you disagree with. I suggest that your trunkline to debating needs an overhual.

Ah but the majority of road fines are given to vehicles NOT causing obstruction to traffic flow. In fact it used to be that you couldn't be fined or to#owed etc unless you were causing obstruction. The vast majority of fines are the result of money making schemes by local authorities, notably parking. Also I have seen for example a drain cleaning van being ticketed because he was on a double yellow line while sucking out the contents of a blocked drain into the tank on the back of his lorry. How else can he do that job? Where was the common sense of that traffic warden. It is also widely known in Westminster that wardens intentionally patrol streets where vehicle parking is about to expire so that they hcan slap on a ticket the second a car goes over. These are not isolated incidents. The whole system is rotten to the core and unfair in many cases.

Has always mystified me why anyone does a job that causes so much misery to others. I'll bet parking wardens would be in the top ten of most hated officials consistently. They have no common sense whatsoever so why expect them to consider their own obstruction to other road users.

I am very happy we have a Labour council. The Lib Dem Tory council came near bottom of many lists in both efficiency and performance. The final straw for me was the lie they published on their election campaign leaflets that labour intended to sell off housing management to Lambeth. A complete lie born out of a meeting that some labour councillors had with Lambeth regarding some border issues - and NOTHING to do with housing. Good riddance.
