Front garden fences should not exceed One metre in height the dividing fences are classed as the left hand fence as seen from the road is owned by the property the plain or the unledged side should face outward, back garden fences can be taller up to two Metres high.

A front fence then side fences must be just one Metere high for the first metre or Splay entrance to the depth of the car entry to alow full vision when backing out. If in doubt go to planning at Southwark Council Planning on line.

For any fence that you own/erect, it is neighbourly to have the ugly side (the posts) facing your garden but there is no requirement in law as to which side of the fence is in which direction in a back garden. However, if there is a public highway on the other side (ie end of terrace house) you must have the posts on the garden side
Logically the bracing would be on your side if not it could be used for climbing over the fence from outside. The furthest part of the fence is yout boundery so replacing it dont dig in the new posts without allowing for the thickness of a close boarded feather edged board.

    • It was indeed in the vicinity of DKH. I live on the ED estate and I could tell it must be close by because of the noise. When I left my house this morning I found the culprits litter still in the middle of the st. It looked like they had lit a whole box on fire in the middle of the road. My cat jumped out of her skin. I’ll try and report it on Southwark website same as I have had to with other illegal use this week. Any other ideas for what we can do with the photos? Maybe one of the Southwark councillors. It’s outrageous and dangerous behaviour.
    • Had another great meal there…. those that haven’t tried it, give it a go.. have a special lunch menu as well so you can get a flavour of the food.
    • If you "cotton on" and read the council announcement, it clearly states "The library will be closed from 17 November until late June or early July 2026."  https://www.southwark.gov.uk/2025/dulwich-library-closing-refurbishment
    • I’ve been seeing Lisa at goose green clinic for energy work for a year now.  Lisa is kind, caring and hugely supportive. She is wonderfully masterful and trained as a reiki master for 20 plus years. Alongside other energy work.  My time spent with her is like therapy. An emotional safe space for deep conversations and reflection followed by relaxing and energising healing work.  each experience I’ve had has been different, the end result remains the same. Feel lighter, almost euphoric and almost float home. Definitely an experience not to be missed.  https://www.goosegreenclinic.net/therapies/healing-energy-work/
