Recommend a family games console?

Do you have a family games console? Would you recommend it? What kind of games do you play?

I'm looking at the Wii U, which isn't cheap, but it looks fairly versatile.

Any thoughts?

We have a Wii U and its great fun for all the family (parents and kids aged 9 and 4), there are lots of games which require the players to be active rather than sat motionless staring at the screen. You can play most Wii games through the Wii U and so can pick up some pretty cheap games as well...

Hi I was going to advertise my wii (original one not wii u) on here as we just upgraded to a PS4 now the kids are older. If you are interested it's in great condition you would need to just buy some more controllers as they were broken and in a bad condition. But you can buy these from Amazon or game shops second hand. ?20 and on Overhill road for collection if you are interested.
