New Zealanders! Clustering upon East Dulwich in some vast atavistic migratory movement.

Is that true . . ? Then who are they . . ? What do they want . . . ?

Beneath those impossibly chirpy exteriors, what sinister truth lurks?

Are they . . . the lizard people?

Flat white, flat white . . . that's an accent description, no?

The truth, mate, is out there. Too bloody right.

I was looking at a house once and the women tried to sell it to me on the grounds that it had Farrow and Balls paint in the kitchen.

?Because the type of paint you have on your walls means something? Oh do fuk off.?

is what I would have liked to have said but of course I am far too polite.

Anyway what?s the skinny with this? I was in caf? Nero the other day and noticed they were advertising flat white. It?s just a cappuccino without the froth isn?t it?

Flat white coffee

The milk is frothed & heated as you would a cappuccino, BUT then the milk jug is tamped firmly on a flat surface a fair few times to loose the larger bubbles. The result is a micro fine smooth froth, which is poured onto the coffee below & done well it's pretty blinkin' perfect

Tim at the Franklins farm shop does it very nicely indeed

No...

It still has froth BUT it's micro "ultra" froth ( sheeesh ....it's getting like Dragons Den in here ) so it's less milky

    • I have a very stupid question. I want to get a SIM card to put in an old mobile as a back up,  in case despite my best efforts my mobile gets stolen and I have no way of contacting anybody quickly, eg banks. Can I just buy any old cheap pay as you go  SIM card and put say ten pounds on it and it will then be fine for years (with the phone kept charged!) even if I don't use it, or do I have to use the phone  every so often to keep the SIM card valid?
    • I hate to see trees cut down to such an unfinished state. Unless the tree is home to wildlife, an effort should be made to remove & replace. Otherwise, it's just so useless & unsightly.
    • Given the level of care in Dulwich Park, I would not expect this to be careless or unnecessary. It will grow back.
    • Quite a number of us who visit the park have wondered the same thing. Also, since a lovely tree in Peckham park was almost mistakenly cut down, the confidence in the council is not 100%
