We walked past the newly (and long awaited!) opened E.D. pool today. Swanky reception and creche but to my HUGE disappointment there was no baby pool in sight. What a missed opportunity with all these mums and babes in E.D.! I could just not believe it.

When I mentioned it at the reception the manager sort of huffed and tried to tempt me in going to one of the 3 hours (only!) reserved for jelly babies. No extra heating (adult pool average temp is 18 degrees i think - far too cold for little ones), no family changing rooms or buggy park. But enough space in the reception area to hold a ballroom dance!

According to the manager it was the architect's fault, which says to me that the council clearly does not talk to residents and what they would actually like to see happen with this amazing, but now missed opportunity.

I am sad....

It is a shame, but they did do a lot of consultation, so I do think they tried to get public opinion of what was needed. Plus plans were up inside of what was going to be done etc. for a long time before work began.

I would recommend the neoprene Baby Warma suits (mine is from Konfidence for kids), website here: http://www.konfidence.co.uk

With one of those on the pool temperature will be fine. I'm about to get both my girls bigger ones, even though they are now 2 and 6 as both feel the cold in the water. We found our little one at 6-12 months old would stay in the water up to 3 or 4 times longer with a Baby Warma on.

    • I don't know how it works now but my late parents had little money when they were retired (just state pension and they rented their flat) and they used to take their cat to the Blue Cross (In Victoria if I remember correctly) where treatment was free for those who could'nt afford a private vet. I sincerely hope similar is available still because for many elderly their pet is their main source of comfort and company.

If you just say , “no, I think it’s x” they start again and get to an agreeable number, or find a calculator. I don’t think it’s a malicious attempt to swindle people. Just not great arithmetic.
    • There are excellent charities like the Greenwich Wildlife Network who will help if you report any concerns with local wildlife. Foxes are wonderful creatures who had been forced into our town and cities and are just doing their best to survive, we should take care of them when we can.
    • Like I thought… prob like that for most of the day.. especially after people had walked their dogs, with friends, relatives  kids…
