  1. If they won't trust you not to do a runner why should you trust them not to misuse your card?
  2. I live in one of the roads near ED Station and the police came round earlier this evening to say that someone on an adjoining road had been burgled - apparently there are people posing as gas / electric people coming in to read meters etc - don't let anyone in unless they have official id.
  3. I found something belonging to you nr junction of melbourne grove + east dulwich grove - PM me!
  4. Isn't there a proposed trial period of about 18 months? So we can give it a go and then see who was right / wrong. The statistics and percentages are all very well, but if you've lived in a street in the proposed cpz for 10 years like i have you would want the restrictions asap. all i know is that at the weekend i can park my car with no difficulty at all, yet on weekdays it's almost impossible. this implies that it's a commuter problem during the week and always has been and having a restricted hour / 2 hours during the day should work.
  5. I really like the 12-2 option, as per Herne Hill, as I'm sure the problems are commuter related. However, the fact that you can now pay remotely from your mobile phone probably reduces the effectiveness of these restrictions. That said, I've now got to the stage where I would rather pay for the restrictions than spend 10 minutes on a weekday going dizzy driving around looking for a parking space. Also it will stop my selfish neighbours putting cones / bins / "skip on its way" notices outside their houses... While we're at it, will the council paint individual parking bays in the roads? There must be at least 4 or 5 spaces "lost" on most days because people park nearly half a space away from each other.
  6. Does anyone have any experience of tutor agencies in the area? I've seen a posting from Dulwich Tutors and wondered if anyone had used them. Thanks
  7. as a comedian once said (can't remember who): Some people call charity muggers "chuggers" but I've got another name for them: "chunts"
  8. I think the whole idea is rubbish (pardon the pun), we're a family of five, we recycle as much paper / bottles / tines / plastic as possible but our bin is still full every week, as far as I can tell the recycling all gets chucked together anyway and no-one has every really told us what happens to our "recycled" stuff. I HATE all these bloody bins / containers / bags, and I refuse to scrape all my leftovers into a stupid little brown bin. I don't do gardening so I sent my gardening bin back ages ago. It's all a waste of time and money. As Sean Lock said, once you've been to America for a while you feel a bit stupid washing out your little marmite pot and putting it in the recycling.
  9. I used to live on a street in ED where parking was v difficult. The people opposite me used to put their bins out to save "their" parking space. If I couldn't find a space on the road I would just put the bin back on the pavement and park there. After a while they obviously came up with an arrangement with their next door neighbour who, despite having a large paved front garden, would park his huge motorbike on the road, parallel to the kerb, when they went out, therefore creating a ready made space for when they returned. Just a bit pathetic. Their other "trick" was to put 2 bins out with a sign stating "skip arriving soon" - needless to say the skip never arrived... Just move the bins and park where you like.
  10. it was a "double stabbing" apparently
  11. I heard that the best thing you can do if you feel ill is to call a hambulance
  12. Sorry to go on, but the other thing i like about mpc is the fact that it isn't crammed with prams - probably because there is no space for them for all the scrapy furniture. This keeps out the people who can't work out that you can actually leave a pram outside a cafe without getting arrested. Before anyone yells at me i have kids of my own, i just like going places where i'm not tripping over other people's prams. So, MPC, make sure you have lots of furniture in your new-look cafe.
  13. those pork ids. hope they get better soon
