URGENT: Metal detector needed

Does anyone have a metal detector that I could borrow this afternoon/evening? My husband has just lost his wedding ring - he felt it slipping off when he was putting a bunch of rubbish in the bins outside. He searched through the bins before having to rush off to a meeting but fears it has slipped off somewhere into piles of wet leaves around the bins... I am devastated. Any suggestions greatly appreciated...

Sorry to hear this, I know the panic all too well (though encouragingly I've always found it again!). No metal detector I'm afraid but Maplins in Forest Hill have in stock a beginner's metal detector for ?39.99, if all else fails you could always buy that then resell it as an "only used once" item, probably wouldn't lose too much?

Are the piles of wet leaves on solid ground?

Could you put them into bin bags and put them somewhere safe until you can search through them at your leisure?

Same with bin contents?

Alternatively rake through leaves at night with a torch, the ring should glint in the light?

Good luck!

Sorry to hear this, have you found it yet? Are the piles of wet leaves on solid ground?

I bought a gold metal detector, luckily, I found a lost ring with it. I think you can buy one because borrowing is too trouble.

    • I’m basing it on the fact that Jeremy Corbyn had repeatedly and on record said he is against mandatory vaccinations in any situation, and he wouldn’t disclose wether he had the Covid vaccine himself    as I said. Not as bad as his brother but very definitely a bit weird about the whole thing. Just say you had the vaccination Jeremy, say that everyone should and stop being weird in the middle of a global pandemic    it’s the same slippery evasive nonsense about Brexit and him. About Putin poisonings and him.     if you are happy with his evasiveness then you do you.  But there is a reason the country wouldn’t get behind him
    • It was my understanding that Jeremy Corbyn was embarrassed by his brother and had distanced himself from his brother's views. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. Why on earth should "the overall view of that family inform Jeremy's response to the pandemic"? What exactly are you basing that assumption on?
    • I guess it's best to do what most Brits do these days, keep your head down and say nothing! although that's probably why this country is in the mess it is today!  😞
