Extension of NC Road market

Hi Sue,

Currently the North Cross Road market officially operates on Fridays as well as Saturdays. So a number of people have been fined for parking in areas reserved for market stalls that are never placed of come on Fridays. Rosie and I have been nagging officers for a couple of years now to remove those parking restrictions and suggested they expand the market on Saturdays.

Yes, Fox.

I'm sure you are really well known to the council as somebody who might object.

I'm sure for every consultation they spend hours researching who not to send letters to in case they might object.

Is it too late to get the wording of the survey amended to make this clearer?

I had to leave it to come back to later, though like JW above I answered that question as best I could while saying I didn't understand it!

Well, having (as I thought) saved the survey to complete later, as there was an option to do, when I went back to complete it (before the closing date of 31 January) there was nowhere on the site that I could find to retrieve it.

So I contacted the council officer concerned, and he couldn't find it either. Nor could he find any completed surveys (before anybody gets worried, it - eventually - turned out that there were 95).

Long and tedious story short, after many many emails and phone calls between us, I eventually had to start the whole thing again and complete it via an emailed Word document. Which was tonight. Well after the closing date now, but I have been assured that it will be included.

A few things: First, if you completed a survey online, you might want to check that it was actually retrieved to be included in the analysis.

Second, apparently the website is run by some outside company - either the whole thing or just the part with the surveys on.

Third: Given that I was able to save a partially completed survey but not to retrieve it, there seems to be something wrong with the website which this outside company needs to address.

Fourth: Given the length of time it took to sort this out (after a fashion) might the council think it would be a good idea to train any of their people who are dealing with online surveys so that they know, for example, how to access the relevant data?

I'd be interested to know if anybody else has had any similar problems, as originally I was told there had been ten emailed responses.

ETA: Just to add that the council officer concerned was extremely helpful, just didn't seem to have the technological know-how required, which is hardly his fault.

Rather than self raising bollards should the council also consider making Nutfield and archdale no through roads on a permanent basis, especially if they are putting in turning circles at the end.

Does anyone remember Southwark's previous experience with self-raising bollards?

Yes, I do - they were installed at the end(s) of Rye Lane, there was a huge amount of publicity before they became operational, a few people tried to follow buses over the lowered bollards, the bollards rose up promptly, the cars were damaged, the South London Press seemed to take the side of the car drivers and the council sadly (I think) abandoned the bollards.
