I am travelling down to Greece over the Christmas holidays & want to fill my van with clothes & toys for the refugees that are trapped in Greece. They cannot go home & they are not allowed to leave Greece. Having a small holistic centre in Greece, I am very aware of the kindness & generosity of the Greek people during very austere times for them & want to do what I can to help.

I have not been able to find a collection point for contributions, but I will be in Sainsbury's car park on Thursday afternoon & Saturday morning with my blue Exterior Designs van until I get thrown out!! And if you can, I will make sure someone is at my home to receive any contributions.

The things needed are: warm clothes, new underwear for women & children. Clean serviceable toys & soft toys, unwanted musical instruments Non perishable foods. If you would rather make a monetary contribution, I am working with a Norwegian charity called A drop in the ocean. Their website www. drapenihavet. no/en/home/.)

Thank you in advance, please get in contact if you have any questions

Please pass this on to anyone you know who would like to help & bump this message up!! Thanks

I will be outside the large Sainsbury's on Dog Kennel Hill tomorrow Thursday afternoon from 3 pm onwards to collect any new or used clothes & toys. I can't tell you how welcome your generous gifts will be welcome in the refugee camps where I will be visiting. You can't miss my van with its flashing Christmas lights!!! 😁😁😁

And thank you in advance

Thank you to all of you that turned up with your generous contributions. I still have space in the van, ( I told you it was big!!) so, I will be there again on Saturday morning between 9:00 & 12:30

Thanks again, you are amazing

Nigel 😁

Thank you to all of you who brought clothes & toys & other items to help the refugees. I did get thrown out in the end due to corporate policy!!! It's a crazy world when multi million pound corporations can't give a little time & space to some of the other causes they are not supporting at this time of year. My faith in the good people of Dulwich & beyond remains, my faith in large corporations does not!!

But thank you again for your kindness, it was a joy to see you & talk to you

Nigel

Due to travel arrangement problems with the ferry company, I won't be going until next week, so if anyone has any more clothes & toys to donate, I can still take them in at my home address as there is still a bit more room in the van & I really want to take as much as I can.

    • To be honest, pal, it's not good being a fan of a local business and then not go there. One on hand, the barber shop literally next door to Romeo Jones started serving coffee. The Crown and Greyhound and Rocca serve coffee. Redemption Coffee opened up not far away, and then also Megan's next door to that. DVillage was serving coffee (but wasn't very popular), as was Au Ciel (which is). Maybe also Heritage Cheese, I don't know. There's also Flotsam and Jetsam doing coffee and sandwiches at Dulwich Picture Gallery in the other direction. The whole of Dulwich Village serves coffee. And yet on the other hand, there are enough punters to support all good coffee shops. With the exception of Rocca and Megan's (which are both big spaces) and C&G (which does coffee like everything else - slow and with bad service), all these places regularly get queues out the door. Gail's often has big queues and yet very few people crossed the street to Romeo Jones (which was much better)... Half the staff at Gail's are perfectly fine and efficient. The other half are pretty offhand and rude. It's certainly not welcoming or friendly service. But they're certainly hard working, and no doubt raking the money in for Luke Johnson...
    • Well according to a newspaper article, Gail’s is opening 10 shops in London,,, yup Dulwich is named 10/5 I seem to recall with others in London opening at 7 am…!, Guess that is to capture workers coming off all night shift. Offering free mince pies until they run out.. So very sad to hear about Romeo Jones… been a customer since the opening, any idea where Patrick has gone or details… please pm me.    What is going to be in its place…. Will be around in Jan…umm village is changing….
    • interesting the police said "the car was in demand at the moment" what make/model is that?
    • Just be careful to know exactly what they cover and the limits. i use Many Pets and Medivet, as I think one of the vets is exceptionally good. Some of the NHV are, but I’ve had a couple I’ve not liked at all.  I need consistency and to feel that they actually care more about the animals than the money.
