Hi everyone,

I wanted to let you know that I have discovered an amazing biking holiday in Northern Italy. It caters for all abilities, provides a really personal service with airport transfers etc all in. It's run by an English guy who has lived out there for several years and therefore really knows the areas. If you, like me, are looking for something a bit different for holiday next year then check out www.lessiniabiketour.com

They were fab and I will certainly be thinking seriously about going next year.

Cheers,

ED resident

Actually no. As I said, I am an ED resident and it is run by a bloke who lives in Italy! As a first time user I just thought I would pass on the fact that I had found a really good holiday that I thought other local residents might be interested in.

Thanks for the welcome to the forum!

Sounds lovely...

However, most legit new members don't make a random recommendation as their first post; that's more the area of those being paid to promote links. But I'll reserve judgement until we see how long you hang around for and what else you contribute that's more local in flavour.

Wow, didn't realise I was going to get quite that reaction! Having thoroughly enjoyed the weeks cycling near Soave I got chatting to the owner over lunch who said he had been struggling to get the word out in England. Having passed it around to friends and family I perhaps naively thought that I would spread the word around my neighbours too using this forum. This is my first thread, but have used the ED forum many times for recommendations for GPs and local trades. Having lived and worked quite happily in ED since the late 90's I would hate to think that I've started offending people now!!

Louisiana-I'm a road cyclist, I went with a friend who prefers mud and hills, we were both well catered for and now have rock solid thighs!!

Not sure I am quite in your league - Cuba sounds a little scary to me! Perhaps I am a little ambitious calling myself a road cyclist - I have just made it past the 'getting to the top of Dog Kennel Hill' stage. But there were some serious cyclists there going on some serious climbs. I tended to stick to the flatter and altogether less daunting routes, enjoying the coffee, pasta, wine and return transfers to the hotel each day! I have to say that I didnt go on one of the more challenging 2000m climbs that were on offer, but stuck to the charming scenic, much flatter routes around lake Garda.

There's a fantastic bike route in Bali from the top of Mount Agung. It's downhill for about 40 miles. :))

Incidentally, when I were a yoof I used to stare goggle eyed into Thomson's travel agents at the idyllic jungle paradise and smiling 'natives' that Bali apparently delivered with abundance.

It doesn't, it's the Ozzie equivalent of Playa de las Americas. If they don't have a Linekers, they should have.

That's like the opposite of the 25 miles uphill from Cork city going west. With three weeks of luggage etc. I speak from experience. Passing motorists were lovely though - offering endless lifts on what they considered an impossible journey. :)

    • Colin.    One for the old school.   Just saying.
    • Signed, and I will share it elsewhere, thank you for posting this. It's got nearly 70,000 signatures at present, and apparently runs till February.
    • There’s a couple of Gov petitions going on in relation to fireworks at the moment but this one is for banning them entirely except organised displays if anyone wants to sign. This is the only sensible way forward in my view. No one should be able to let them off in gardens or anywhere like that, it’s crazy. I am surprised some of you have said it hasn’t been as bad this year. I live near DKH Saino and it’s been absolutely terrible my way for days. This petition gained about 20,000 just in the last day or so so clearly the appetite is there! https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/732559
    • I'd have thought they could use some of  their income from hiring out a large part of Brockwell Park in the summer (therefore, as I understand it, preventing local residents from using much of it) to put on a firework display there  in the autumn which might somewhat make up to those residents for the previous loss of use of the park. And also generate goodwill.
