  1. I'm married to a foreigner, so we get lots of visitors coming over and asking what to do and where to go. I like to specialise in telling them what NOT to do. What bits of London do you find especially crap? My best places to avoid are Borough Market on a Saturday and Piccadilly Circus on any day of the week.

This. The speech she gave post Queenie meeting was the most deluded nonsense I've ever heard. I think she read out the victory speech and hoped no one noticed. In my opinion (worthless, I know), she and the likes of Davis, IDS and co. treated the electorate with such contempt that this was inevitable. Brexit means Brexit, strong and stable, all out of the "shut up and let the big people get on with it" textbook. Arrogant beyond belief. As a window into the Mayfair club Tory heartland we even got the bring back Foxhunting nonsense. Yeah, unite the country, dicks. Strong and Stable, my arse.
  3. Are Swifts immigrants or resident non doms?
  4. From nesting birds to UKIP in 10 posts. Impressive and hilarious.
  5. The Shipping Forecast. Seamus Heaney. Dogger, Rockall, Malin, Irish Sea: Green, swift upsurges, North Atlantic flux Conjured by that strong gale-warning voice, Collapse into a sibilant penumbra. Midnight and closedown. Sirens of the tundra, Of eel-road, seal-road, keel-road, whale-road, raise Their wind-compounded keen behind the baize And drive the trawlers to the lee of Wicklow. L?Etoile, Le Guillemot, La Belle H?l?ne Nursed their bright names this morning in the bay That toiled like mortar. It was marvellous And actual, I said out loud, ?A haven,? The word deepening, clearing, like the sky Elsewhere on Minches, Cromarty, The Faroes.
  6. There was a "club" of old print reps that used to meet in The Hope in Smithfield. It was called the 11 before 11, yep 11 pints before 11 am. Most succeeded but then most are dead now.

Mwahahahaha! Nope, not at all. 2016 has been a horrible year, full of political turmoil and unexpected deaths, even The hammers had a good 5 months. Well it's over, normality is back and West Ham have returned to being reassuringly shite, expect planetary realignment soon.

    New York

Here http://aifiorinyc.com/menus/dinner_menu Possibly one of the best meals I've ever had. For down and dirty in Brooklyn try Roberta's. Terrific pizza out front, Michelin starred restaurant out back. Hipster heaven/hell depending on your outlook. Contrary to the above post (sorry) avoid Times square like the plague.

The answer is > never censorship- it's better arguments Whilst I broadly agree with this, freedom of speech comes with responsibility. "Enemies of the State" was a deliberate attempt to incite disorder and hatred. The DM needs to be called on this and if it means they lose out financially, then good, it's not going to change their journalistic outlook but it may make them act in a more measured way.
  15. I loved Conte's response to the moaning Mourinho. "I've been a player too and I know how to behave." Arse served on a warm plate.
  16. BFS in "all about me" shocker. Not even taken his first training session. The very definition of arrogance.
  17. I agree with most of that RRR except the 4 years to get their act together. I imagine the Tories are weighing the risk of another General Election right now and the only thing that will stop them is the possible outcome of an increased UKIP presence in parliament. However as UKIP have already seen one major defection to the Tories and their talisman has retired (for the moment), I think they'll see this as the time to strike. If so, Labour are f***ed.
  18. Foxy Sorry the facilities were so lacklustre but I feel this has opened up something for you. The pic of the condiment table is really rather good. Almost Martin Parr-esque. It really sums up lower league football, maybe you could document your travels to other grounds? Be a great antidote to the razzamatazz and showiness of the PL . 'BN

Football, or rather The PL has changed everything from the game that I hark back to. It's showtime now, lead by TV on a global level and to be honest atmosphere be damned as it's all about the audience in America or Asia. The sums add up, if you have a global audience willing to pay ?1 in pay per view (which with the way TV is being consumed in a "pick what you want" model) for say Man utd V Arsenal and that audience is 500 million, that's half a billion revenue per game. It's mad and it goes to show why teams are so desperate to stay in the premier league. Coming next a European super league, it's in negotiation, I think it will happen and Television money drives this, not the fan who pays his entry fee on match day, sadly.
  21. See Woo supermarket on the Greenwich peninsula. Ridiculously cheap and fresh.
  22. Actually I agree. One thing BFS is good at is getting the core of a team together. He doesn't pick on reputation, more on the ability to follow his wishes. We will be muscular, intimidating. The football will be terrible to watch but we'll win more than we lose and maybe we can put the pressure on other sides rather than vice versa. Kevin Nolan could well be the oldest player since Sir Stanley Matthews.
  23. So it's official, BFS for Engerland. No idea who's got the job of retrieving all the balls that will be stuck in the Wembley arch.

I think it's quite funny as I really am over England and especially the FA.
