ring stretching

Does anyone know anywhere locally where I can get a tight ring stretched?

Assuming you're talking about jewellery - there are a couple of good jewellers in ED who should be able to advise you - not every type of jewellery/ring can be stretched safely as I understand it. I would try phoning Davies and Vaughan and ask them if they could do it.

Thanks for the tip. As it happens Davies and Vaughan were the only jewellers i could find in SE22 when I looked into this a couple of years ago and they were not much help on the phone. They could not give me a ballpark idea of the cost without seeing how much it needed to be stretched or, as you say, whether it was possible. Fair enough maybe, but as it is my partner's ring there was no point bringing it in without bringing her finger in too and I wanted to do it as a surprise so I was a bit stumped. On reflection though, having seen the answers on this thread maybe they thought i was taking the piss.
