This ride starts from Canada Water in small square beside the Library, opposite the Station, at 10am and returns to the same place at 12noon. The proposed route is completely flat route and suitable for all cyclists. The weather forecast for Saturday on the BBC website shows a big Sun. Should be a glorious day.

The group will use quiet cycle paths to Old Kent Rd. Then quiet back streets to Burgess Park. Ride across the park, and take the Walworth Green Way to New Kent Rd. The group will then pick up the Southwark Cyclists Bike Train route bypassing the Elephant and Castle.

They are not heading for central London however (like the Bike Train) but back via Quietway 1 to Bermondsey St. Then part of route for proposed Quietway 14 to the Thames and on to Canada Water.

On the outward leg, there will be a brief diversion to Bird in the Bush Rd to locate site of Livesey Exchange which is having an open day from 1-4pm, the approx post code SE15 1QP, Lat/Long 51.480573, -0.062349.

1290m2 of vacant garages on the Ledbury Estate will be transformed into spaces for making, training and cultural programmes with a central courtyard surrounded by workshops, studios, multifunctional spaces and a training kitchen. The PemPeople Bike Project (local youngsters fixing bikes etc.) will re-locate there. More information at: http://liveseyexchange.com/open-day-power-project/

    • Back to the good things about cycling - social rides organised by Southwark Cyclists, wonderful, always posted on the events page
    • I only go there about every couple of months now (to put my flimsy plastic in the recyling bins). What a dismal, grubby experience it has become! I don't go to Sainsburys Forest Hill either because of their requirement to have me download a parking app on my phone. Luckily we have many supermarket choices nearby and I find Waitrose deliveries, Sainsburys Local on foot, Lidl and Aldi cover it all.
    • I've started going to Morrisons in Peckham and have been pleasantly surprised at their range of products. Shopping in Sainsburys  DKH is such as trial now, no staff, inconvenient malfunctioning machines and a general feeling that customers can go and take  running jump.
