LauraHW
Hi thereAll advice on this gratefully received! I have a 14 week old and I think he's just started to teeth. He's very red in the cheeks and dribbling and keeps wanting to chew his hands. Also he's started to wake more frequently at night whereas before he'd only wake once. Does this sound like teething or is 14 weeks ridiculously soon to start? Thanks! peckhamboy
Sounds exactly like our 17 week old. We're pretty convinced it's teething too. Calgel seems to help when she gets really distressed. Ko
yes sounds like teething. can start very early and i've heard that this is often the most painful bit as the teeth start to come through the gums initially. but can take quite afew months for the teeth to break thru the surface! 3-4 months is quite normal for the teething pains to start from what i've seen with my little ones and other babies. gp told me to give calpol and it does help. gum numbing gels are good too. esme
my baby has been teething since he was around 3 months old but still no teeth at 7 months (aaagh) - try bonjela or dentinox teething gel if nelsons teething granules don't work - try those first as they're homeopathic as opposed to gawd knows what in the gel! calpol works a treat if he gets worse symptoms like a temperature or is in a great deal of discomfort/pain. hoep it eases soon if it's not teething!! new mother
I was sceptical about the overly Bohemian nature of the teething powder but you know what?....they worked! So, we're a temporary long haired hippie family. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/13884-early-teething/#findComment-373826 Share on other sites
GinaG3
No matter how sceptical people can be on the use of 'natural remedies' I would strongly advise using teething granules preferably nelsons. My daughter was teething from 8 weeks, and it went on and on through phases until her first tooth came at around 9 months. Then a whole mouth sprouted in no time at all. We are awaiting 4 more teeth (2 of which actually cut through yesterday leaving another 2) at 21 months then she will be the owner of a full set. Teething can be hard on the parents, but its something that must happen at some point, obviously. Distraction and granules worked wonders for us.The first ones are always the hardest it would seem, they get used to whats happening and tend to deal with later ones much better. Lots of cuddles, play and distraction I say. Trying teething rings too, didn't work at all for us, but have done for many others. Worth a try..
