Well done REDD!

There's not enough owning-up to pissed-up posting and far too much thumb-knuckle-between-the-front-teeth justification of same that just ends up as tedious as, well, pissed-up posting.

I don't want to discourage anyone from posting pissed but at least have the critical nous to review it and if necessary (as our chum REDD did) find it wanting.

Well done, sir!

    • No they are not ordinary houses.  None of the ordinary people I hang around with live in £2m houses.  Many people I work with will never be able to afford any house in London.  Most people's kids will not be able to afford a house, unless fortunate enough for some serious inheritance. So on your formula a £2m house is around four times the average price of a house across the whole of London.  Back to my 1970s prices, £20k (not £68k) that would be equivalent to £300k based on inflation or £800k based on wages in today's prices.
    • They will only be cheaper to run using a home charger for so long as the pay per mile rate stays low. But it won't. It will go up and up. As petrol has. We are one of the most expansive countries in the world for petrol and most of the price is tax, plus VAT on the cost and VAT on the tax. The government aren't just going to give that money up. They will get it back from pay per mile increases.
    • This week the council felled a healthy, beautiful tree in Cornflower Terrace with no notice o the community at all - which is a violation of the 2021 Environmental Act, which requires them to notify and consult for 28 days. Now they just put up a notice saying they’ll immediately fell another in Dunstans Road because of what looks like the words ‘Weak pork.’ They’re mutilating the neighbourhood with reckless unconcern for the law. Is there a local paper we can talk to?
    • Houses subject to these taxes aren't the average house though either.    They are ordinary houses that just happen to be marginally more expensive than the ones the Rachel Reeves and Keir Starmer each rent out.
