Lewisham Council Drive Catford?s Regeneration by Bring Empty Spaces Back into Use

Hot on the heels of signing the contract with Little Nan?s Bar to take on the Broadway Theatre cafe and bars in Catford, Lewisham Council are now seeking similarly exciting propositions to reanimate a number of key sites in Catford town centre. With the wide scale regeneration of Catford planned for 2020/21 Lewisham Council currently have a number of sites available for meanwhile use and longterm lease.

These spaces offer wide possibilities for diverse, creative, commercial, residential and mixed-used occupation. The hope for these developments is to inject a new burst of life and creativity into some of Catford?s derelict and unused spaces, helping to bring new talent, opportunities and resources to the local area. Developments will help to catalyse the re-invigoration of Catford town centre, and meet Lewisham Council priorities for local regeneration, growth and investment.

The three spaces are:

1) ?Thomas Lane Depot, Catford, SE6 4RZ

2) ?17-18 Catford Broadway, SE6 4SN

3) ?The Brookdale Club, Brookdale Road, Catford, SE6 4JY

Independent consultants Louise Brooks and Nicky Chambers, responsible for sourcing a new operator for the theatre cafe and bars, are once again working with Lewisham Council to seek tenants, developers and creative entrepreneurs who fit the bill. This is an opportunity to be at the forefront of exciting developments in Catford. These are key spaces in fantastic locations. There is so much potential for the right proposition.

Although the redevelopment of Catford town centre is in the planning phase and not due to commence until 2020/21, we are actually working hard to build links and establish businesses and opportunities that will benefit Catford now.

Full details of the opportunities can be found on Lewisham Council website here: http://www.lewisham.gov.uk/inmyarea/regeneration/Catford-regeneration/Pages/Temporary-use-of-empty-premises-in-Catford.aspx. Viewings are scheduled for:

Tuesday 24 January

Friday 27 January

Expressions of Interest should be submitted by 7th February 2017. Contact Louise or Nicky for further information at [email protected].

    • We used Anstey Horne following work done by our neighbours and they were very helpful. Maybe they could provide some guidance? Good luck. https://www.ansteyhorne.co.uk/about/team
    • Sounds like your neighbour is trying to bully you into  to be compliant and stay quiet.  You really don't have any choice but to contact Southwark regarding building alteration planning permission.  But also try to find your own surveyor asap.  It might cost you now.  But if you don't it could well really get expensive and cause issues with any potential selling in the future.  Don't feel bad about standing up for yourself and your future.....
    • Thank you, he's pretty adamant a party wall agreement isn't needed so no chance of getting plans, he's been very cagey about what's being done. I've asked for the specific clause in the Party Wall Act that suggests he doesn't because I'm pretty worried. Is it just the chimney breasts that would fall under the act? He's insisting the others don't count as party walls.
    • Thanks  for the reminder nellie. Have today received two letters dated February 2024. Heading down to Highshore Road tomorrow to see if there's anything for us. I'm getting obsessive about missing/late arriving bills since having our phone and broadband cut off when we hadn't received (so hadn't paid) a bill from BT that had been posted to us. I now keep a note in my diary of when the various utility bills are expected, and phoning them when I think something is due, invariably they say the bill has been sent out. It shouldn't be so hard.
