Anyone heard from James Mulvey (carpenter) recently?

As an update on the below post, we have now heard from James and he has explained the lack of communication. He has also reimbursed our deposit so all is good.

James Mulvey is carpenter who used to get a lot of work from the forum (although less so now I believe). He seems like a nice guy and has done some work for us before which we were happy with, so we were confident when we paid him a deposit in Oct 2016 for some other work (which he initially said he would complete before Christmas). We have not heard anything from him since before Christmas and he has not been responding to any of our communications. We would be grateful to know whether anyone on here has had any contact with him in the past 6 weeks or so, or whether he is doing any work for anyone? This all seems a bit out of character (as far as we know) so we are keen to know whether he is ok or whether he is avoiding us etc. Would prefer to avoid pursuing any legal routes for claiming back our money if possible! (although advice on this would also be welcome....)

Thanks all

    • Just had three areas of damp expertly dealt with by JKA Damp proofing & Plastering. Each area had a different cause and Jonathan diagnosed and explained the problems comprehensively. The family firm then carried out all the necessary repairs having prepped each area meticulously. The work was done to the highest standard and then everything was cleared up beautifully. I would wholeheartedly recommend the firm if you have damp problems!
    • hi Tom I'd ask a teenager. I'd lend you mine but they are asleep.  Pop into a phone shop and ask for help with it. It's quite straightforward, but easier once you know.
    • I switched from one samsung phone to another Samsung phone about a couple of years or so ago. Now I may be misremembering but what I think I  did was to 1. Open a samsung account which gave me access to Samsung's cloud. 2. Uploaded what i wanted to transfer to new phone to the cloud. It gives a choice of which categories to upload. 3. Log in to samsung on new phone then download stuff from cloud onto new phone. I was very hesitant but I remember it was quite simple and straightforward, I surprised myself. I do keep all photos and documents on other clouds which means I can access the same file/photo from different devices, and agree with Sue about accessing emails. Good Luck!
