I need to transfer my contacts and existing text messages from my (very) old Samsung mobile to a new LGK3 phone. I've looked on You Tube for a tutorial but my techie understanding is so basic that when they say "copy your contacts to the Sim" I have no idea how to do that. Can anyone help with some really basic advice on how to do this? Thanks!

After checking a very old Samsung phone and its manual, I suggest:

Open up your contacts entries one by one. You may well be told whether the entry is in the phone or the Sim. Among the menu options will probably be a Copy option: you will be offered the other location as destination. You may have to do this for each contact separately.

Open your inbox (and then whatever other folders you keep text messages in). Open each message in turn. Among the menu options will probably be one offering a move to the other location, or maybe a Copy one, as with contacts.

Google Samsung and the model number and phone and manual, and you may be lucky. Beware of manuals for other Samsung products with the same model numbers. They may turn out to be for a microwave oven. It's the phone one that will be more useful. A phone that is not very old may also, as Zelig suggests, offer options for bulk selection for copying.

The new phone has a different SIM card so how do I copy the unfo to the new card? Thanks.

Cella - I think that you're best going to a mobile shop for help - can you go to your a shop run by your network provider ? They usually have a device that easily enables data to be transferred from one sim to another. Failing that you could try the shop near ED station that does mobile repairs - he may be able to help you.

    • I had this same query the other week - Mediquip no longer cover Southwark and I believe the company when bankrupt? Anyway, after some digging, I found the news on the adult social care page of Southwark Council website.  The new supplier of medical equipment that is issued to Southwark residents via an OT from the council or the NHS is Provide Equipment Hub.  I emailed them about returning two items and they did promptly respond and came and picked up the items the following week.  Email them at [email protected] Importantly, they will come and do urgent repairs of equipment like hospital beds.  I'm surprised that Southwark haven't made this change more widely known as it will impact many vulnerable residents.

    • Hello East Dulwich families 👋 I wanted to introduce myself to the community. I’m a professional family & wedding photographer with 14+ years of experience, and I split my time between the US and London throughout the year. I’ll be based in London for the coming weeks and would love to photograph more local families here in East Dulwich. My approach is very relaxed and natural — no stiff posing, no pressure — just real connection, movement, and the beautiful everyday moments that tell your family’s story. I work especially well with kids and parents who feel “awkward” in front of the camera (which honestly is most of us!). Sessions can take place at home, in the park, on your favourite street, or anywhere that feels meaningful to you. The goal is to create images that feel like your life — not a photoshoot. If anyone has been thinking about documenting this season with their children, I’d love to connect, answer questions, or simply share examples of my work. No pressure at all — just happy to be here and meet some neighbours. You can see my work here: https://bluesparkphotography.com/family/ (use the contact page on the site to send me a message if you're interested!).
