red devil
If this is the flooring you mean it's not parquet...http://cdni.condenast.co.uk/426x639/d_f/dulwich-picture-gallery-london-conde-nast-traveller-12feb15-Stuart-Leech_426x639.jpgI'd guess it's a good quality hardwood timber floor, such as Junckers... https://www.junckers.com/en/plank-hardwood-flooring/mc-82/c-78 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/142365-wood-floors-dulwich-picture-gallery/#findComment-1104476 Share on other sites
Ladharrbeinn
Thanks red devil. (Appreciate that the gallery isn't parquet...)I don't suppose you know any businesses locally that fit Junckers or similar wood floors? sheff
We had aged parquet installed throughout our house and would highly recommend the supplier and also the company that fitted it...Tarted up picture that was taken by the company to show their work.http://www.hswoodflooring.co.uk were the installers...and supplied from these guys.. http://www.naturalwoodfloor.co.uk/ Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/142365-wood-floors-dulwich-picture-gallery/#findComment-1104700 Share on other sites
Phlox
Sheff, The parquet is stunning. So is your room. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/142365-wood-floors-dulwich-picture-gallery/#findComment-1104723 Share on other sites
sheff
Thankyou! I can guarantee it never looks like that... It's a toy waste ground most of the time :-)It took months of researching, visiting wood suppliers and installers to find the two I recommended - so I hope other people benefit from that time spent!ETA - just remember that for parquet the cost of fitting can be similar ? p.sq.m as the floor itself. And i'd always err against cutting any costs on the installer side.I used the leftovers for a tiny downstairs cupboard and think of myself as quite handy but it was an absolute nightmare to get right...Phlox Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> Sheff, The parquet is stunning. Ladharrbeinn
Dear Sheff - thanks for the pic, looks amazing. Sorry to try your patience, but is that the engineered "oak aged parquet block", 280x70mm - and which finish - Antique or Millrn maybe? And last question, did you have to oil or wax after installation? As you say, you can lose days researching this stuff online, so any pointers very gratefully received!thanks, Tom Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/142365-wood-floors-dulwich-picture-gallery/#findComment-1104772 Share on other sites
sheff
Hi Tom,Looking at the supplier I can't see the exact sort we had. This is the most similar they have now - http://www.naturalwoodfloor.co.uk/floor/434 but ours was solid, similar price though. This is almost exactly the same from another supplier - but this wasn't the cost! It was more in the ?45 a sqm bracket. http://www.broadleaftimber.com/product/classic-vintage-oak-parquet-flooring/41 So ours was 280 x 70mm and then unfinished. It was solid, not engineered. If you are having underfloor then engineered is the way to go.They laid the whole lot, it had a very light sand and was then finished in Osmo Hardwax Oil which was clear.I've got quite a few pieces left if you wanted one to compare to other products etc.MattETA: - the naturalwood floor one though is pretty much it though.
