5 & 6 year old boy needs play dates late March/early April

Our family is relocating to London from the San Francisco Bay Area in July, and we're visiting from March 25-April 5 to visit schools and homes in the areas of Camberwell, Herne Hill, Brixton Hill and Balham. Our son is 5 and a half and we'd love to find some playmates for him during this period. As an only child, it would mean so much to him to make a friend in advance of our move, so he'll have someone to look forward to seeing when we return in late July. He's very friendly, a bit shy at first but warms up quickly, and is obsessed with Legos. We could keep it casual by meeting at a park or playground,or even a cafe-- we're staying near Brockwell Park-- but we're open to suggestions. I realize this is an unusual request, but any help in making this transition would be much appreciated!

Hi, my son is coming up to 7 so is not the perfect age but is also an only child and also obsessed with Lego, particularly Star Wars Lego! We live in Herne Hill and would be happy to meet up during your visit. He goes to Bessemer Grange school so am also happy to share thoughts about schools. I'll PM you my details.

I lived in San Francisco for a year in my 20s. Happy days! :-)

Hi,

Thanks very much for getting back to me. My son actually LOVES kids who are slightly older than him so he'll most likely be enamored of your son, especially if he likes Legos. Are you available after school any weekdays? If not, are you available Saturday or Sunday, April 1 or 2?

    • Another recommendation for Niko. Great communication, top guy, and super reliable and skilled - all at a fair price. Takes a lot of care in what he does and talks you through everything.
    • Some foxes are very tame. The foxes that live near the electricity sub-station thing on the corner of Calton and Woodwarde will happily walk up to you/passed you. They are some of the best looking foxes around so clearly being well-fed - glorious coats and bushy tails but interested in humans and keen to engage/be fed rather than being scared.
    • Let’s not all get scared of the foxes now. Most likely explanation is protecting its den or association with food. We have foxes, and cats and they are no bother to each other. The fox will leave when the cats are out.
