I hope you're one of the 65% of families to be offered your first preference for September 2017 secondary school places.

We don't yet have this broken down by post code or ward to see if we're better or worse than this average for Southwark.

But this is a 5% improvement on last year which must have something to do with the new Charter East Dulwich school the campaign started on this forum and when the Haberdashers Borough Acsdemy opens this will go up further.

If you're not happy please see attached Q&A. Drop in sessions are also available for families - tomorrow 2 March 10-12 & 1-2.30 Cambrifge House, 1 Addington Square, SE5 0HF.

OR call 020 7525 5337 or email [email protected]

Or contact one of your local councillors.

Hi Serraecho, do you live in LB Lewisham? If so you need to contact

Opening hours:

Monday to Friday, 9am?12 noon

From previous years, I think Lewisham won't give you much information for a couple of weeks until acceptances come in and there is the initial movement on the waiting lists. Something you should be able to do is add your name onto waiting lists of schools you didn't initially apply to. You will automatically be on the waiting list for your original preferences.

    • Thanks penguin  always wondered about that place and that’s way more info than I ever thought I would get  (used to live above a gun nut on friern road - he would tell me nothing)
    • There was a Saturday afternoon crowd of enthusiasts, and at other times the owner might have been off acquiring stock. He also repaired air guns, which he also sold. He stocked edged weapons, uniforms, including antique uniforms, air guns and ammo and starting pistols and shot. Some medals and other militaria. Quite a lot of ex service chit chat on a Saturday. I had an amateur interest, didn't deal a lot, in English pattern swords and other mainly 19th century militaria. And made some good purchases there. I'm afraid WWII and later events was the major focus of most of the regulars.
    • Did anyone actually venture in to that place? I recall it always being closed/very uninviting!
