Are clean wet paper towels fit for the recycling bin?

i think they're fine - I believe water gets involved anyway in the recycling process.

I'm sure the clever peeps on here can be more definitive though.

I have been putting them in the brown bin (given that I used to put them in the wormery when I had one).

NO. No tissues or nappies or kitchen towels/paper towels. Not according to my Southwark recycling list.

I've always popped them into the kitchen waste bin.

Kitchen Roll clean or dirty cannot be recycled.. Green bin..

In case anyone thinks it's all mechanical, have a look at the short MRF clip 4 - Hand Sort (3.4MB) at https://www.veolia.co.uk/southwark/media/media/videos, where you can see workers removing all the (unrecyclable) plastic bags from the stream of paper and card, where they shouldn't have been at all.
