The only people who 'need retiring' are those who would see others retired on grounds of their AGE.

This is because judging people on a characteristic which no-one can control and which in real terms has no bearing apart from perhaps a physical one (looks/strength) is irrational and prejudice.

What's next ? A thread on which ethnic minorities shall we lynch / sexual orientation bashing ?

Basic blind discrimination.

Next tell me the youngest in society add the MOST value.

This society, on the whole, automatically discards old people as irrelevant and superfluous. Our loss IMO.

This reminds me of the newsreader (Moira Stewart ?) who was 'retired' or released because she apparently didn't look 'fresh' enough.

Sick.

May Death Be Your Santa Claus !!

p.s. Well not actually "Death" but it is a Mott tune and it is (almost) topical.

p.p.s. Not that I'm a fellow fan but I did note the "Honaloochie"

Yes computershorty, the long winded lottery draws presenters, but whoever it is who shouts in that hysterical high

pitched voice, should go

Also what is odd, is how comes they know instantly, how many times a certain number has been drawn and what charity

will benifit.

I,ve heard of speed reading, but fact finding too, sounds scripted to me, Hm.

Maybe the numbers are picked by computer, and the whole ball thing is just for show,to make sure the balls come up the way they want, they are magnetic, thats why they wear gloves.

Where are all these raffle winners too..All odd .

Oh yes Ridgely, I,m not an ageist, some of the young ones should go too, Its more the repetative songs, that we hear on

every show they go on.

Like the films that are on a loop, Plain boredom really

We have got the X-factor on for a few more years yet, Just Groundhog day feeling thats all.

With regards to repetitive songs/people and particularly during the Christmas (selling) period. Is anyone struck (and no doubt not for the first time) how much utter toss is being produced in the name of the Christmas period. Beginning with all these totally banal and empty meaningless shite churned out by the likes of X-Factorites and High School Musically Challenged but in addition, even some of the more established artists, Elaine Page, that Barryman, Bette Midler, and even Annie Lennox.

I had a moment this morning after watching 3 minutes of these non-stop Christmas adverts and began to really and truly wonder what the feck has happened to the human race... this has to be the start of the end, The Apocalypse must be nigh!

    • Rant ahead: You're not one of them but unfortunately, there's a substrate of posters here that do very little except moan and come up with weird conspiracy theories. They're immediately highly critical of just about any change, and their initial assumption is that everyone else is a total fucking contemptible idiot. For example: don't you think that the people who run the libraries will have considered the impact of timing of reconstruction on library users? (In fact, we know they have - because they've made arrangements at other libraries to attempt to mitigate the disruption). After all, these are the people that spend their whole working week thinking about libraries and dealing with library users (and the kids especially). You don't go into the library game for the chicks and fame - so it's fair to assume that librarians are committed to public service and public access to libraries, including by kids. Likewise the built environment people (engineers, architects, construction managers, project managers, construction contractors, subcontractors or whoever is on this job) are told to minimise disruption on every job they do. The thing that occurs to us as amateurs within 30 seconds of us seeing something is probably not something a full time professional hasn't thought about! Southwark Council, the NHS, TfL, Dulwich Estate, Thames Water, Openreach - they're not SPECTRE factories filled with malevolent chaosmongers trying to persecute anyone. They're mostly filled with people who understand their job and try to do their best with what they've been given - just like all of us. Nobody is perfect or immune from challenge, and that's fair enough, but why not at least start from the assumption that there's a good reason why things have been done the way they have? Any normal person would be pleased that their busy, pretty, lively local library is getting refurbished, and will have more space and facilities for kids and teens, and will be more efficient to run and warmer in winter. But no, EDT_Forumite_752 had kids who did an exam 20 years ago, and this makes them an expert on library refurbishment who can see it's all just stuff and nonsense for the green agenda and why can't it all be put off... 😡😡😡
    • I completely misread the previous post, sorry. For some reason I thought the mini cooper was also a police vehicle, DUH.
